Have a look at http://www.h4u.co.uk/?newSearch=True
We've been to Turkey twice with them.
Altinkum - really liked it there, booked to go back for this year, was really friendly and great for families.
Gumbet - wouldn't really reccommend there, seems to be more 18-30's and didn't really feel welcome with kids.
Was there mid July both times, 1st time (altinkum) was hot but bearable, 2nd time (Gumbet) was very very hot but I think that year was really hot everywhere.
Some of the Villas in Turkey look lovely, and not very expensive. with having kids, I would price a package as I've noticed (for me) that it works out cheaper buying a package than just flight only (you have transfers included if needed then just don't use the 'package' accommodation) but it all depends on dates, kid's ages, airport, etc
As for hiring a car, I wouldn't, drivers are a bit scary to say the least, just get the dolmus around, really cheap aswell.
I also wouldn't go AI, loads of lovely resturants available and they were really cheap, although I believe Turkey isn't as cheap as it used to be. I wouldn't say the Turkish food is basic, loads of choice, might be basic in hotels but not from resturants.0 -
could be worth going AI even for drinks and breakfast and the odd meal on site. I find you are offered a beter quality hotel . Meals are around £8/10 in restraunts weather great cheaper than euro.
If h4u is holidays4u (not hotels4U) i had a very poor service in Marmaris lst year . If you have any certain requests make sure they understand what ou want in writing before you go:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
Turkey is a great place for a holiday - the people are the nicest you will ever meet, it can be very hot in main season, so be aware, went to Gumbet last May - WOW Bodrum Resort - was £475 for a week All Inclusive with Thomas Cook (including single room supp), amazing resort, 4 x restaurants, loads of bars - 1 x all inclusive x 24 hours!, mini bar in room stocked daily, highly recomment - just have a look on tripadvisor reviews and you will see it's very highly recommended, went in May, and planning to do the same this year but for two weeks, have been to Marmaris, a bit like Blackpool, but hey if you like that....also went to Olu Deniz several years ago and it was lovely, but think a bit touristy now from what I read, anyway, you will love Turkey, great food, drink, and mostly people,, out of eurozone, so great price-wise so friendly and will do everything they can for you - try it! and if there is a male in your party go for a turkish shave and haircut - trust me, you will be glad you did...ENJOY!0

I beg to differ from many of the posts on here.
My family and I loathed Turkey with a vengeance, probably because we had holidayed so many times in Greece and decided to give it a try.
Two solid weeks of being pestered, badgered and abused by the rudest bunch of shysters it's ever been my misfortune to meet.
The Turkish men are old-fashioned misogynists and the food doesn't appear to extend beyond kebabs.
Do yourself a favour - go to Greece instead.0 -
There are plenty places in Turkey where you don't get pestered at alltravelover0

We went to Hisaronu last August- it was hot but because we were in the mountains it wasn't unbearable. The people there were friendly and out of 2 weeks we only had minimal hassle and thats taking a teenage daughter who dresses alternatively- i would say on 2 occasions maybe she had a little over the top attention. I think you would be better on a half board basis as the meals out tend to add up and if you go on b&b basis you won't have the facilities to cook yourself. We booked early to go to Greece in May this year before we had had our Turkey holiday and i'm a bit disappointed that i'm not going back.0

thanks everyone....food for thought there...will look at all the holidays..may go for mountain type or may have to think again...arghhh!!! Could you tell me where you stayed salt and pepper and wht it was like? this may well be our last holiday with our eldest so want it to be good if poss! 40 degrees is a little hot..hubby suggested northern Spain but hear weather there can be v iffy even in August and looked at Pyrenees etc but could be iffy weather? Don't want much do I?!...BUT if I'm going abroad for SUN i do want SUN ...tho not v v v hot sun perhaps!
we went to Costa del sol last July (late July)(Mijas, in mountains near Malaga)and it was v hot, ...although our friends who went in Aug, and have been going for 5 years, did say it was the hottest holiday termperatures they had ever experienced when they went in Aug so perhaps was hot everywhere. Can't seem to get temperatures right in August...roll on the times we can holiday in June! ( in a few years time hopefully!) why oh why do they have to do A levels and GCSEs in June/July?!0 -
Have you thought of Northern Cyprus? Currency is Turkish Lira and driving on the left as in UK. Much less commercialised. We love it.0

They hassle you every where you go if they have stuff to sell (try tunisia or egypt) what i found in Turkey is they hassle you with a smile a laugh and a joke normally in very good knowlegable English We went to the Market in Icmeler which ive heard is terrible hassle . but they are polite and so should you be. Have a smile a joke and a laugh but be firm and say no thank you. Could be because im a big 16 stone bloke:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0
