Alternative to microsoft money

Can anyone help? I have used microsoft money for a number of years, to budget, with great effect, but now I have windows 7, lots of the functions don't work. Is there a good alternative to Money?
I've looked at personal accountz, but it looked a bit basic.

I don't have any problems with Money in Windows 7, what functions are you having problems with ?0 -
i looked at Personal accountz but decided againt it because the banks I am with have discontinued support for downloading statments into MS Money and they don't support Personal Accountz either.
They are both very similar packages as well. Hang in there as there is now a space in the market, see what appears.Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

Indeed.
MS are discontinuing the money application.
You may find this freeware application sufficient.

It's rumoured that OpenOffice will have a MS Money equivalent module at some point, i checked but doesn't seem to have appeared yet.
A lot of things aren't compatible with Vista and Windows 7, i am staying with XP service pack 3, even when i eventually upgrade with a better PC, i will immediately reformat and install Win XP, too much padding i would never use as far as i can tell and as many have experienced, it means repurchasing 32bit programmes and applications for the 64bit advances etc, that may be where your Money app' glitches are, contacting microsft for a patch may be the way to resolve your app' being difficult on 7 but it's now redundant as MS have discontinued so may not even help now, ruddy cheek i know.
The more complex and advanced operating systems are ok for those with plenty of cash, but a pain in the 'arris for all too many, expensive luxury when XP is more than adequate. In my most humble opinion.
Peace.

Seems they plan to continue support until 2011 so may be worth getting onto Microsoft, why should you lose the app simply because of op' system advances, they have a responsibility, you paid for the suite so should be able to continue full use.Pax-Delta-Pan.

Microsoft Money 2003 (version 11.0) works fine on Windows 7 for me. What are the functions that don't work.
As for Microsoft 'discontinuing the money application', they have already discontinued it (last year), and the last UK version was 2005 (version 14.0).0 -

OP doesn't say if the upgrade to Win 7 is because of a new PC.
If a new PC is 64bit, Money on Win 7 may well glitch, if so a patch from MS may resolve.
That's the possibility i mean and have to surmise in absence of more info and why i mentioned that possibility.
Is your PC 32bit or 64bit, 32bit app's hate 64bit machines and op' systems, that's well known?
(Same as many 16bit programmes had to be dumped when 32bit became standard especially when platforms jumped from Win M.E. to the Win2000 NT core standard as we all have now unless running 9x/M.E. on older 'puters still, this is a notch up but same issues.)
And i saw that when i read the Cnet article i added, discont' from last year, but only had vague recollection until i looked, MS Money isn't something i use so didn't know the timetable,

I would agree with the pottential issue regarding 64bit machines (I am running 32bit Windows 7), but it is the puzzling statement from the OP of "now I have windows 7, lots of the functions don't work".
I would have expected either the software to 'work' or to 'not-work', so I suspect the OP is getting confused with some of the online functions in Microsoft Money no longer being supported (and thus not working), rather than it having anything to do with the operating system.
If the OP does suspect it relates to the operating system, they could try running it in compatibility mode.0 -

Splendid advice, well worth trying.
But accessing that for a layman isn't obvious.
OP should ensure a system restore point is made before doing so, s.o.p. before making any changes like this.
Save explaining it all, here's a link...

(Located in program files directory for MS money, which will be sub directory of MS Office. I think, don't use it but should be sub D of Office.)

Microsoft Money works here with no issues on 64bit Windows 7 so I guess it's because MS have stopped supporting the online functions of the program (I haven't found a single application that doesn't work on it in fact, no need to spread FUD about Windows 7 causing 32bit applications to glitch!).0
