The only limitation that a 64bit operating system has with regard to 32bit code is with drivers (you cannot use 32bit hardware drivers on a 64bit operating system).

32bit applications can and will run on a 64bit OS, they simply do not benefit from the additional memory space available (>4GB). There is no compatibility issue.

Which is why i mentioned a patch, plenty of software requires a patch to run on 64bit systems because of driver error etc.

I didn't know, i don't use MS money, but i raised it as possibility.

So far we don't know why OP upgraded, i've surmised and mentioned a few possibilities but others seem to be making unsuppoorted assumptions about the OP's system which they don't know and only person can answer that is the OP.

Arguement for arguemnt sake, because they don't know anymore about OP's system or machine than i do.

As i said, it could be many things not associated with whether 64bit or anything similar.

So far this has been a troll fest on me for some reason turning this thread to crap with flames directed at me.

Like how dare i have an opinion, which isn't wrong, it's a possibility.

he called you a !!!!!! :rotfl:

That's right, a !!!!!! for coming out of the woodwork just to have a go at what i said and coming out with utter nonsense in the process.

Time and time again in the space of several hours, i post initially about bank charges and have had several oiks trolling repeatedly, so i am getting insulting, why should i just take their crap.

Utter BS by simple minded !!!!!! with not much to actually say just try and cause trouble with people because that's their idea of fun and think they're clever.

But they are not, just the usual twisting and manipulative trouble makers who can't actually articulate much apart from BS to provoke people, the Internets full of sad gits with tiny minds like them, seen all this cluster f*ck stuff by resident trolls before plenty of times.

For what it's worth, any troll is on overide from this point, i've given you enough effort, fed enough resident trolls here, your crap will gain no further purchase from me.

But i ain't gonna stop posting and making sense just because of a few !!!!!!.

I didn't intend posting much here, was going to read any facts or advice from my original issue and move on as i frequent other platforms usually to moneysavingexpert, i'm not a materialist so seldom felt need to come here but will make a point of staying here now and regularly posting sensibly as intended when i first posted about the Halifax, but ignoring you trolling oiks so you can be seen better for the trouble makers you are, sarcastic, small minded idiots with no real intelligence and not very articulate so deride those who are which is why you do what you've been doing to me earlier.

Far from chasing me off, i'm digging my heels in.

All people like them are to me, small minded trouble makers who aren't capable of much else and can't stand people who show some intelligence.

    End of.

Only replies to people who can be sensible and make sense from now on, i don't exactly like filling peoples threads with tons of flame crap unlike others who seem to think provoking reactions to well meant posts so threads turn to off topic detritus is acceptable.

    Sorry this has happened OP.

I don't currently have MS Money but I'm looking for a programme that will allow me to track my finances, spending etc, maybe download from Nationwide online banking.

Are there any free programmes that will allow me to do so? Sorry for the thread hijack but at least it brings it back on topic ;)

  • I know this is an old thread but it came up in a google search so thought I'd comment for anyone else that finds it.

Microsoft Money has been discontinued, but they have recently released a final version called Microsoft Money Sunset which is completely free from what I can see and removes all the licensing basically. I haven't tried it yet but you can find details here -

I've been using the Sunset edition for over a year now and it's always worked flawlessly on Win 7 64bit.

The Sunset version will not be able to open the .mny file made with UK version. You will have to first export all your accounts as .qif files from the UK version and then import them into the Sunset version. Can take a while if you have many accounts. However, if you are starting from scratch, then it is fine. You have put up with American terms such as "Automobile" instead of "Car" or "Gasoline". Of course you can change and create your own if you find them too annoying icon12.gif

My suggestion would be use Quicken. You can get Quicken 2004 on Ebay for about £20. This was the last version in the UK and works on XP, Vista and Windows 7.

Having used Money I think for me Quicken is a far superior product and easily allows you to add your own categories.
