Oh dear, felt tired last night so didn't do any sarnies for work, decided to pop into Tescos and get some essentials before work. Spent around £15.00 using 2 till spill vouchers which were due to expire handed over my vouchers and the SA refused them and she quickly called over the supervisor who said I had a huge cheek to ask for money off for things I had not bought, she refused to accept the 3 vouchers I had handed over and felt that she will now have my cards marked for the future. What irritates me is that previously vouchers have been accepted and I felt fine doing it, now I feel like they will be watching me like a hawk - it was a rather unpleasant experience this morning with lots of people watching.

Oh Welshy, I'm feeling very sorry for you, sending you hugs! :o

Fancy being told you have a huge cheek to ask for money-off things you haven't bought, when Mr T and Asda are well known (amongst us lot at least) for having a policy for just that!

Did you attempt to show her the HO email you have about coupons?

Did you buy anything non-perishable items that you can return for a nice hefty refund when she's not on duty (you've changed your mind)? Then you can whip round the aisles and re-buy it, going to one of your old-faithful cashiers who you know will scan some of your vouchers.

 I have fifteen £1.49 off mag coupons (from Real People of course) to use by Sunday, and my nearest Tesco likes to accept one of each different coupons! May need a trip to Asda soon....

Chin up Welshy, that Supervisor needs to get a life! :D

  • Feeling better now, thanks. just sent Rambler a PM - and sure he will offer the appropriate sympathy and advice.

Ha Ha Angelundercover - very funny Wales has many things, including the Metro, it has lots to offer even TWO potential Big Brother winners - cough, cough, change subject very quickly

As for marking my cards, NO not literally but in the sense that they will recognise me whenever I go to the tills again. The other Tescos around here are not coupon friendly either so will have to time my visits differently.

Hey they would have a job marking my cards - I have FOUR Tesco clubcards on the go anyway ! (not all mine but members of my family) bye for now Welshy x

:rotfl: :rotfl: you don't have to convince me girl! Born n raised in Cardiff (well, until I was 4 yrs old anyways ;))

no comment from me about BB tho :rotfl: lmao

Thank you for all your messages, and especially Rambler - top bloke.

I thought I was the only Coupon Queen in the Village but today I was proved wrong ! I did cheer myself up by devising a cunning plan, this was:

In my office we have a free bus to take us into the centre for up to 2 hours shopping (I'm on flexi), as I looked out of my office window, I could see a lovely pile of Metros on the bus, so I walked out of my office into the sunshine, jumped on the bus asked if I could have a few Metros and repeated the process four times (different buses each time). Result I ended up with 8 Metros with vouchers and some bemused looks off my fellow workers !!

Just hope they can be used now !

Once I have cut the vouchers out, my OH takes them to work where they are read cover to cover. Magzines I tend to disitribute to work mates, dentists and family.

I really feel for you, Welshy, after your experience in Tescos. I think if that happened to me, I would never dare try to use vouchers again. I think if they have changed their policy then they should have prominent signs letting you know beforehand what they have decided to avoid embarrassing you like that.

I think as they have always let you use vouchers before, I would feel like writing to Tescos with a copy of the rules they sent, emphasising how foolish and embarrassed you felt being made an example of in front of a shop full of people, when previously they had accepted the vouchers willingly, and point out that they ought to have had signs prominently letting you know the change of policy at the store (or if it was just one supervisor, that they should all sing from the same hymn sheet at least). I suppose the trouble with that idea might be, though, that Head Office might issue an edict to all stores to follow suit.

Maybe try ASDA for a bit? You might grow to like it. No clubcard points, but I have tried both supermarkets locally, and I am sure ASDA is hands down cheaper overall despite the points. I did my shopping this afternoon at our ASDA and asked politely if the checkout girl would be able to take my coupons. She agreed straight away and checked over £8-worth through. She would not take the ASDA's own coupons from the June mag though - said that if they said ASDA on them, I had to have bought the products, but any manufacturer's ones she could take. I had some lovely ones from the Daily Mail at work for loads off various magazines so that bumped up the total quite a bit. I wish now I had been cheeky enough to take all three of the mag ones that expire on 2nd July now, as ASDA do not seem to mind more than one of a particular coupon.

Anyway, sending virtual hugs through cyberspace following your horrid experience this morning.

    Violetta :)
