I've just noticed something else: why is Income (benefits, tax, etc) grouped with Family (that means children in the UK, I finaly gathered....).
Don't single people or people without children have interest in taxes and benefits and so on, as well?

PS I disagree with the calls for a gradiated green background - that is now a dated look for web design. Also agree with comments on the photo - I believe a better pic could be taken with increased soft side lighting to make it really pop off the screen (sorry - too much time on strobist.com!)Russell0

EDIT: Deleted post as I hadn't clicked the link to the page with the new masthead :-)

The colour rendering properties of LCD monitors are notorious for displaying their output different to what the original image should look like. The LCD settings can be tweeked but often a colorimeter gadget is required to adjust things to an acceptable standard that all can see whatever LCD screen they have.
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/ is worth a look to see how much many manufacturers deliver their monitors setup away from any colour rendering norms.

navigation bar much better, more proffesional looking.
Forum button, very small I think, hardly noticed it
banner, very unprofessional looking, horrible green, but I don't like the look of the current green either. Maybe I just hate greenBest Comp wins[/B]: , Holiday to Las Vegas worth £3K, £200 shoes, £130 ASOS voucher, £150 River Island Voucher, £100 Toni & Guy Voucher, £250 Red Letter Day Voucher, Holiday to NYC[/COLOR]0 -
I like the new bar, it looks a lot less cluttered, but like others have said I think a graduated green could be better, and having a bigger link to the forum would be good. I don't know if it's just me but the forum still has the old style banner even though all he other pages have the new one - I'm using FireFox 3.5.6 with Windows XP.0

I don't know if you want to change anything else on the homepage, but if you did want a bit more of a streamlined look I've just noticed that you have the box in green on the left that says about signing up for the email (under the "urgent money saving" news article at the top of the page) but you also have a big blue box on the right hand side that also says about signing up for the email - maybe you could get rid of either the green box or the blue one and save some space?
You could save an extra line by removing the text link to the poll and just keeping the big pink box with the poll in as the box is probably noticable enough on it's own. Also, I think someone else has already asked but is the search box under the header (in the blue box) going to be removed if there is going to be one in the header? I much prefer having the search box in the header. I'm no web expert by any means but I do think that if the home page was a bit less cluttered then it would be a bit easier on the eyes and encourage more people to read it.0
