Do people value more a dishwasher or table in the kitchen

If your selling the place i wouldn't put either in!
If you cram in a table it's just going to make the kitchen look smaller and buyer's will think "but the kitchen was small".

If you fit a dishwasher your unlikely to get your monies worth ..better to just illustrate to potential buyers "it wouldn't be hard to fit a dishwasher". Trouble is many buyers don't see beyond what is in front of their eyes so you need to give them a helping hand to visualise the potential!

Our smallish kitchen has neither table nor dishwasher. However we have space under the kitchen sink drainer for a full size dishwasher but it's currently occupied by a tumble drier with hole in the wall to vent it...obviously the plumbing for the kitchen sink is close to it..the other side of the wall is a drain gully for the waste (or waste could just pick up on the kitchen sink waste). There is also already a power socket in cupboard used by the drier.

Also there's a strong possibility that a buyer will just gut the kitchen anyway..regardless of the condition it's in so then your money is wasted! Or knock down walls to make a big kitchen-diner!

No point getting a freestanding dishwasher to take with you either as the house you buy might already have an integrated dishwasher!

So i'd leave it be and just do a bit of sales pitch to the potential buyers! Will cost you nothing!

I'm surprised that so many have chosen the dish washer option, especially those with families. I thought it would have been an important social time to eat together,especially for those with children that they learn to behave and eat other than on a tray in front of the Tv.
Aren't meals family time ?
I have a big kitchen, i have a table/chairs and a dishwasher, and although i live alone i always eat at the table. And i've never used the dish washer, it seems just as easy to wash as i go along.

agree with this...but OP says there is room elsewhere for a dining table so that base is covered..

I would go for the dishwasher (or at least the space/plumbing for it). But if you want to tick the "eat in kitchen" box as well, could you install of those shelf style tables that hang on the wall and can be folded out with a support underneath for when you want to eat? or is there no wall space.

I think this is mainly a question of lifestyle and convenience. Most people are short of time, and increasingly with both partners working, a dishwasher is a huge convenience. I managed without one for years but now we have one, I would hate to be without it. There are only two of us so a slimline model suits us fine. We run it every other day, but do tend to rinse out odd cups of tea and beakers on the run when we have a bowl of soapy water, rather than accumulating them in the dishwasher.
