Elfen I don't know what to say my love, You can love some one from a distance I think - you do love him but you don't love being with him if that makes sense.
I think to be honest I would concentrate on you, getting yourself together - as you are doing in terms of money/uni/your future (always have an emergency fund money wise) - when he behaves the way he has tonight always remember in those moments that YOU have a way out if needed.
I would think either he has a problem or he will grow out of it, how he deals with it is his problem. You must look after yourself, other wise you simply won't have a life.
