The retailer believes they are used, and you are going to have difficulty proving otherwise.

I think this is unfair, sometimes when you are shopping you see something you think you really love and you get it, impulse buy or whatever and then when you get home you realise you dont like it as much

Its not a crime to change your mind!

If you say so, personally no. If I buy something I intend to keep it, if later down the line I decide actually i shouldn't have bought it, I either just sell it on or keep it anyway.
Its just a waste of peoples time and the stores time for people keep returning items because they have simply changed there mind.

Ok, maybe by law they are not legally required to give me a refund for changing my mind. But it is clearly stated on the bottom of the receipt that they are happy to exchange or refund. It doesn't say anywhere that it has to be faulty or anything like that.

"We are happy to exchange/refund merchandise, excluding underwear, returned in an unused and saleable condition with a receipt withing 28 days".

And I don't see how trying them on in the store is a problem. It's not like I went for a jog outside in the snow.

People return non-faulty goods all the time. There are many valid reasons as to why the OP might want a refund, there may be personal reasons which the OP does not want to disclose such as an unforeseen financial problem occuring after the goods were purchased.

Yes but that doesn't really change things does it? And if severe personal circumstances were the reason then maybe if they were mentioned the shop would be more sympathetic. Or maybe not, but there's nothing to lose by trying.

Sounds like they believe they have been used, therefore wont refund you because of that.
