i got the samsung r519 http://www.homeaccessgrant.com/index.php?p=home&option=com_ixxocart&Itemid=55/index.php?option=com_ixxocart&Itemid=55&p=product&id=2&parent=6&vid=0
it is really good my daughter loves it she thinks it is great although i keep dusting it after she has used it cos she leave finger marks all over the glossy black cover! i was thinking about upgrading to the 2gb too but we decided we couldnt really afford it and also we can alway add more to it at a later date if we need to
the only disappointment i have is that the 3 dongle we got has a sticker on the front saying it has a usage of 2gb per month, where as misco, bli and centerprise are all 3gb a month. wish i had enquired about it before i bought it as it doesnt say anywhere on positive it what the spec of the dongle are
That must be the 'price' you pay for having Microsoft Office then!
Thanks for the feedback.
ETA: saying that - it doesn't have Microsoft Office, does it? I was getting confused with Windows 7! Is it OpenOffice on that one?0 -

Hi im looking for some advice please
I recieved a letter from Home Access today which had my Child Benefit letter attached saying that they were returning my letter and a decision would be made within 10 days regarding my application, the letter was dated the 26 Jan, (we are having postal problems where i live as informed by my postman this morning) so i decided to ring Home Access to ask if a decision had been made and if they could let me know the outcome over the phone, i explained i was going to a friends today and could use her internet to see what places where offering and what laptop was best suited to my child, the guy informed me that he couldnt tell me over the phone but a letter with the decision was posted out to me on the 27 Jan, i find this a bit strange as its wasting money to post something out to me the next day as my child benefit info could have come with the letter posted the 27 Jan, im not in desperate need for child benefit info to be returned asap, Im not worried that my decision will be a NO, i am on exactly the benefits they are asking people to be on, and when phoned for the form was told yeah you should apply. has anyone else recieved there Child Benifit form back before decision letter?? Am i just worrying over nothing???
I am using my friends profile to ask this question and hopefully someone can help ask asap as i am only here for another hour or so
Many thanksMum of 2 adorable children & 2 cheeky cats who were born on 23.04.2009 :rotfl:0 -
They returned my child benefit letter a few days before I received the entitlement letter too so it should be with you soon.
If you applied in time (which you will have) and you meet the criteria, you will not be turned down.0 -

I can't help thinking its strange that people complain about the current state of the economy and say that the country cannot afford or shouldn't give children these laptops BUT no one seems to complain about the car scrappage scheme which has cost the goverment £400 million the goverment has allocated £300 million for the home access grants. There are only a few that can afford a brand new car and qualify but it seems acceptable where as giving families on benefit a free laptop is not acceptable. How much has the goverment funded the banks? Billions. Its double standards.0

It seems to me that Misco have the best deal for a full-size laptop:
- Samsung R519 (1GB RAM, 160GB HDD)
- Windows 7 Pro
- Microsoft Office Standard 2007
- 3 Mobile with 12 months subscription
- bag
- mouse
- 3-year Anti-Virus
- 1 year reinstatement service (theft cover)
- 1 year tech support
- 1 year warranty
Can any beat that?0
