Lorweld - thank you for the original post. A friend of mine, who is a widow with three children, has been able to get a grant of £400 for a computer for her son who has learning difficulties and so that will be a great help for them. She hadn't heard of it until I gave her the link from here so that was a huge help.:j0

How long have people had to wait from sending the form off to getting a decision?
And do people not get the same amount?
Looking at the links given where you can buy the laptops or desktops, does the amount amount cover the prices?0 -
Thanks OP, my sister applied after i gave her the phone number, she has recieved the full grant and has recieved her card with the money on it and will be choosing a laptop soon
It was really quite quick, within two weeks of me giving her the phone number...

have just placed an order with xma, really helpful friendly guy on the phone. i ordered the samsung r519 as i've had a samsung laptop before and been happy with it, i went to comet to look at the acer and its awful. i also chose xma as they are one of the few companies that dont use the dreaded three for their dongles, they are using t-mobile.
the computer should be with me within 10 days and they will be sending me a text when its going to be sent out.
i'd definitely recommend xma, the guy was friendly and helpful and i noticed on the website that they supplied hardware for the pilot scheme so they know what they are doingJuly- coconut body shop body butter, pom bear football, mini johnsons lotion, Sally Hansen nail treatments0 -

Hi All,
First post as a newbie!
Been doing some reccie today as I've just got my card through after seeing this on GMTV in January. There's quite a few available where you won't have to top up out of your own pocket - and a lot seem to be the same laptop! XMA's looks pretty good - it says it has Office on it which most of the others don't. I haven't phoned them yet - do they have stock?
I heard Toshiba are really reliable, does anyone know if they're better than Samsung or Acer?0 -
Oh and does anyone know what's wrong with three dongles? I did a coverage check on XMAs site for T-Mobile which says I'm good, so I'll probably go with that anyway, but have people had bad experiences with Three?0
