im confused it says on site a child aged 3-9 but i rang them an said not eligible as my son is 5

It means children in YEARS 3 to 9. So that's from ages 8 to 14. I know it's confusing, I've only just got my head around it. Once your children start school you will get used to it!

Got my CB letter today so will be filling the Grant form out on Sunday to get in the post on Monday.

can I ask when you requested your child benefit letter? I asked for mine on 14th January.

Hopefully I'm going to be a beneficiary of this scheme but even I'm now seeing that it's a poorly thought out, poorly executed scheme that's a farce.

Mine was asked for on the 14th as well so no doubt you will get it any day now.

Let us know when you get it.

We were lucky too, I already had a in date CB letter as my daughter left school in July and I had to tell them she was going on to sixth form.

The card arrived this morning, out of curiosity I tried using it to by the lap top online (using daughters laptop, sons computer died a few weeks ago and hers is hers alone as her dad bought it for her, before anyone jumps on me for claiming one )

Anyway it worked as you don't need the PIN to use the card online, it just works like any credit/debit card.

I chose the Samsung laptop from https://www.cihomeaccess.co.uk

Hope that helps anyone who is thinking about getting one online.

I personally wouldn't touch acer, when the kids dad bought our daughter her laptop a couple of years ago he first got her an acer, it died within days as did the replacement. The second time he took it back the sales assistant advised him not to get another as the most faults they got were with acers. He then decided on a samsung, which she's had ever since with NO problems at all.

Thats the main reason I've picked a samsung for my son under this scheme.

    Hello
I'm hoping someone could help I'm torn between the Samsung R519 and the Acer from Comet
Any advice would be gratefully received

I would go for the samsung, most samsungs have good reviews.
My dad repairs laptops, and i had asked him the same question. He told me he has repaired an awful lot of acers, and advised to go for the samsung.
