Can i cancel without paying ?

On monday i phoned o2 to see if i could upgrade my phone as i had lost my old one over the weekend, they told me i had 3 months before i could upgrade.

i explained that i had lost my mobile phone BUT MY SIM CARD was NOT in the phone. (as it was in my phone in my car)

after coming off the phone knowing i had to wait 3 months before i was due an upgrade, my sim and mobile (which was borrowed, where barred and i couldn't make any calls.) so phoned back and asked for the bar to be lifted.

which was done and i was able to make and recieve calls for a few hours, after that i have now found out that my sim isn't barred and can work in a different mobile, but the borrowed mobile i have is now barred and i can't make or recieve calls.

Can i cancel my contract without paying the last 3 months ? as the service is that bad and i can't make or recieve calls unless i get another phone (which i don't think i should have to). O2 are not providing the service they should........

Nope, 02 are still providing the service, cancelling payments is a very bad idea and will mess up ur credit file for 6 years.

Why is your other phone now barred? Only your sim and phone you lost should be barred.

They ask "Is it the last phone you used that has been stolen?" You have to agree then they block the phone and sim, However I can't see why they would block the sim seen as you have it.

Now for the stolen phone they can lift the block at their discretion however it is upto them.

He has no need to remove the bar on the stolen/lost phone, his borrowed phone has now been barred for some reason. Which usually means that the phone you have has been reported lost/stolen, unless you are mistake and you put the sim card in a simlocked phone, i.e. the phone is for orange simcards and you put in an 02 sim. They won't work.

No, they get the IMEI number of the last phone they used, which would be the borrowed phone and block it. It says they can do this. However I cant understand why he reported the phone as stolen, As they cant just block a phone, they will block the sim aswell

not really worried about the stolen phone as it was a cheap phone anyway, i explianed on the phone that i was using a barrowed phone, and i'm using my own sim card. the barrowed phone worked fine for me to make and recieve calls.

they have bolcked my barrowed phone for some reason and i've been trying for days to get it unblocked ? they blocked my phone and sim without my consent, sims fine now, just waiting on the phone getting sorted out, this has been 3 days now !

I'm not happy with o2, they said 72 hours and it should be fine, its been and gone now and i still can't make or recieve calls with this phone !

i might just pay my last 3 months of the contract and leave !

They should not have been able to block the borrowed phone without the IMEI number, which unless you gave it to them they won't have. They would have the stolen phone as it is on their system, but not your friends phone.

    Ring 02 again today.

They know the IMEI of ANY phone you use as when your phone signs on to the network it registers the IMEI at the network. So they have misunderstood the OP and blocked it (Which is their policy to block any equipment reported as stolen however they made a booboo)

Read the update, Orange did this on my friend, it took them 5 days to unblock it as I guess it needs to propogate?

You'll probably have to buy out the contract, ie cough up for 3 months rental to leave.

I stand corrected, i did not release that, i thought it was just the SIM they knew about.
