I may be wrong but I thought a new BT installation tied you to keeping BT for line rental for 12 months but placed no restriction on you regarding calls (CPS or 1899 etc.).
If I'm right, Day 2 would appear approriate (just after you've found the kettle again).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Hi,
Yeah your correct Heinz, as soon as the line is operational the customer can use cps ,1899 etc. just make sure you select that BT Option 1 tariff, if you sign up for the half price line rental offer, this will tie you in to keep either option 2 or 3 for 1 year!macminiuser wrote:Generally speaking, it's best to do the CPS (calls) first, then add the broadband afterwards; from a provisioning point of view, it can really screw things up at the exchange trying to do both things simultaneously, and will ultimately delay either your CPS to Primus, or broadband, or both.
It takes about 10 working days to activate the CPS, and another 10 days for the broadband. Good luck - looks like a cracking package Sir Heinz has whipped up for you there!
Your CPS and Broadband order should not conflict, as its seperate technology and seperate equipment in the exchange. Also, there will be a slight delay, usally between 2 to 5 days, before you can place your Broadband order. This delay allows the BT Wholesale system to automatically update with your new telehone number. You can however ask your Broadband supplier if they take part in the BT simultaneous broadband provision service (sim provide). If they do, you simply give them your BT order number, and BT Will supply the line and Broadband at the same time. You would need to place your Broaband order at least 5 working days before your line is activated, this allos the sim provide to be done together. The views expressed on this website, be they in text, pictures or sound, are my own personal views. Is it just me
It is http://www.planet-talk.co.uk/SaverProducts.aspx?source=saver
They contacted me regarding broadband (the e-mail above and a follow-up phone call) so I've never found reference to their broadband on their website either. If you're considering it, I'd suggest you just ask them on the (free)phone when you call re telephony.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. I see it just confused me slightly
Also i found thsi - http://www.tiscali.co.uk/products/broadband/2mb-unlimited.html?code=ZZ-NL-11EE
What do you think?
That's even cheaper again, but i am not sure about Tiscali as i have heard alot of bad things, but then again people only complain when things go wrong0 -
I can't really comment because I have no experience of Tiscali - but using the search facility (searching for the single word tiscali in any thread title) produces some interesting results.
I expect the same would happen with any provider though - as you say, people rarely post praise.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Ouch... I REALLY wouldn't go down this road.
Although it's true that ONCE IN PLACE, CPS and Broadband do not conflict - do ONE THING AT A TIME, seriously. Get the line installed, then CPS the calls to Primus, then apply for broadband. The amount of delayed orders I've seen where people have tried to order more than one new product at a time - the gateway can't handle it and will spit back an "open orders exist against this line, please resubmit after x/x/x" error message and won't allow your service provider to resubmit the order for up to 3 weeks.
Clark1982 - who are BT Wholesale? I think you'll find they're called Openreach now, sir.Fasthosts ruined my life0 -
Thanks again for the advcie!0
