Food poisoning

winter vomiting bug. been through our family like a dose of salts.

When my son had food poisoning (salmonella), environmental health got involved and re-traced everything he had eaten for two days prior, local chippy, school canteen and never traced it to anything in particular. He had also eaten almost the same as my parents.

Forgot to finish my earlier post (phone keeps ringing).
I think the only time a company can be blamed for causing food poisoning is if environmental health says so.

Just because the store concerned is part of a National chain, it does not make it immune from causing food poisoning.It is individuals, with different levels of training and commitment to handling food safely that run these shops.

If you suspect food poisoning, you should write down everything you have eaten in the last 48 hours and pass the information on to your local Environmental Health Office.

This is important, since the very young or very old could be seriously ill if the source is not traced. If more than one complaint is received and there is a common source of food, this makes it easier for the EHO to trace the contamination.
