Why would the Police pull a car over just because of where it is registered that does not add up, if they did that as routine they would be pulling millions of cars over every day.0

Tbh its a bit of a boy racer car, he said afterwards they followed him for a while then pulled into the station, so they probably just wanted to get one more in before the end of the shift0 -
They have the right to pull over anyone they see fit. Luck of the draw I'm afraid, maybe they were playing car snooker.
Agreed, but it just seemed to much of a coincidence that the guy gets pulled with that reason just after he has bought the car and the first time he has driven it, and as it turns out with no insurance.
However if as the OP says it is a bit of a boy racer car maybe they thought he was driving like one.0 -

It isnt a coincidence at all
Police will drive around with ANPR camera's. If a car is flagged up on it or for another reason (generally suspicous, poor driving etc) the ownership will be checked.
If its out of its locale it will be pulled and checked mainly because a lot of cases are either stolen cars, travelling criminals or people who have bought cars and dont intend to drive them legally.
Serves them right.
There is no excuse no matter how genuine they think their "ignorance" sounds.0 -

That is exactly the point I am making, they are hardly likely to have pulled the car just because it was registered in Manchester they do not normally stop people just for that, there has to have been some other reason for them to have stopped it.0 -

No they do not, they only stop vehicles when there are other reasons such as bad driving, suspicion of being under the influence etc, etc.
In many years of driving I have owned vehicles registered in many various locations and driven all over the country but have never ever been stopped because the vehicle I was driving was not local to that area.0 -
the only thing you can hope for is to produce the documents they want to see asap before the DVLA register the car in his name, when you produce the insurance certificate and they check the DVLA database the only hope you have is that it hasnt changed to his name yet, but id say hes going to get charged for no insuranceEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0
