Is it too early to get a BFP?

I dont know whether im answering my own question here but Hubby and I decided to start trying for baby no2 on Boxing day. My period was due on 30/12 (im normally on time a day 2at the most out.) Well as you can prob guess AF still not arrived I did a test on monday which said negative but i think that was too early to tell even though I was 5days late. I know your suppose to ovulate 14days before period but maybe im just different or ovulated late. Ive had a few signs of AF coming (stomach and back pain ) but I think im just a bit impatient lol.

Do you think its possible that we have been lucky again and fallen on month 1 but its too early to get a BFP or is it that im just really late?.

If you are 5 days late it is not too early to get a BFP. Test again first thing tomorrow if no AF.
I had the worst PMT and cramps ever the month I got my BFP so anything possible

Thanks csh, we have decided to wait until after the weekend to do another test im a week late now but by Monday will be 12days late. I dont remember getting symptoms of AF coming when I was pregnant with my daughter and found out when I was 4weeks (but had pregnancy symptoms from 3weeks) maybe its a boy lol (fingers crossed) but I know all pregnancies can be different I guess Im just really impatient Lol.

If your period is 5 days late then it's not too early to test.

BUT if you conceived on Boxing Day then you had a longer leutal phase and ovulated later that month and therefore wouldn't be 14 days past ovulation till Friday so in that case wouldn't expect a positive test till then, if you had a BFP now you'd have conceived prior to making the decision to TTC

Onlyroz - BFP, big fat positive (positive pregnancy test result), AF aunt flo (period)

did you come off contraception to start trying. If so, your period (AF for those whom dont know pregnancy forum abbreviations) could be out of whack for up to three months, or longer, depending what you came off. I have had positives as early as 7 -8 DPO (days post ovulation) but for that early testing I used clear blue, not the digital kind, the one that shows the cross. Best of luck.

Thanks clairec79 thats a great help think we will wait until the weekend, its my friends hen party next week and its a cocktail masterclass with dirty dancing masterclass then meal then town so I dont really want to be drinking if I am. I know I will feel guilty if I find out later that I was pregnant and got drunk IYKWIM sorry im not making any sense will post after weekend and keep you updated fingers crossed for me.

mumslave- No wasnt on the pill or anything we have just used condoms since having DD 19months ago and used condoms for 18months before we ttc first time was on pill before that for 7years before that.

Stay off the booze just in case. With my first pregnancy I knew I was PG but it was so early I went for a meal and had some wine. I later lost the baby. I am certain the two were not connected but I felt awful. Better to be safe as you won;t want the guilt.

Im really sorry for your loss skintchick and I dont think it would have been related either its just the thought isnt it your right I wont drink but hopefully will no eitherway after weekend I think if AF hasnt come by the weekend the test will just be a formality I will be convinced then as I have never been that late ever and started my periods when I was 10 im 24now.

I know im probably just setting myself up for a fall but im so excited and cant wait till the weekend has passed to test anyone ever been this late before when they have never been late before and not been pregnant (if that makes sense)
