i purchased a t-shirt that arrived with a whole in it despite being described as BNWT (it didnt have any tags either)

i paid immediately but hadnt received feedback after 2 weeks (at this point i was new to ebay and getting really excited about my feedback score going up, sad i know)

i figured the seller was waiting for me to leave her feedback first, so not wanting to receive negative - i left positive with just "item received promptly".

this was over 90 days ago - she didnt even bother to leave me any feedback at all!

i wish i had waited til the 89th day and left a negative
cos really i had been conned and feel foolish.

sellers should only be able to leave feedback for the buyer for upto 2 weeks, to feedback on the payment transaction.

buyers could then feel able to give "honest" feedback instead of worrying that if you give a negative to someone, you are more or less guaranteeing a negative in return..

This feedback business is a pet hate of mine!

I really think ebay should change it so that the seller has no long to add feedback then they no longer can and then the buyer has their chance to leave feedback. The reason is, it appears that dodgy charactors sned out dodgy goods, then quite rightly receive bad feedback but then give it back which is out of order!

My boyfriend bought some trainers, that were BNIB, unworn etc. They arrived covered in mud and without the insole so in order to warn future ebayers he left bad feedback but then received it back! How can a person be a bad buyer when they pay straight away through paypal, that's their part of the transaction done!

    So under my proposal:
Buyer pays on day 1 therefore completing their part of the transaction.
Seller then has 7 days to leave feedback if they want to.
The Buyer can leave feedback when they want but obviously if they are worried about receiving bad feedback purely as a retaliation to the truth then they can wait til after the 7 days.

It just seems frustrating that you do everything you can as a Buyer is terms of paying fast etc. and then you receive a complete pile of junk but many feel unable to warn others as they would rather not receive the bad feedback! Instead lying that the product was good!

ClareO your system would be open to abuse. As a seller I would have 7 days to leave feedback, so as I am happy that payment was received timely I leave a positive.

Buyer gets item a few days later and decide they don't like the colour or they can get it cheaper elsewhere (this has happened to me) they e mail me and ask me to do a refund and if I refuse they say they will leave me a neg. The blackmail potential is endless.

Alternatively, Buyer sends cheque that takes a week to arrive, which is fairly normal and one of the reasons I don't like cheques. Waits for seller to leave feedback and send item and then bounces cheque. There is nothing the seller can do then to warn other sellers that this buyer is ripping people off.

Or, again buyer wants to pay by cheque and it hasn't arrived by day 7 so does the seller forfeit the right to leave feedback or should they just leave a neg and warn other sellers that this buyer doesn't pay within 7 days. It just forces people to use paypal which is not a good idea.

    Soo

whilst i agree wiht your suggestions as an ebay buyer.

i disagree as a n ebay seller. I have recently started to refrain from leaving a feedback, due to pissbily getting negative/neutral feedback from buyers, who have a complaint but never contacted me.
I aim to describe my items as accurate as possible, but peole still think they should recieve brand new items, when I am clearly not selling brand new items......!
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)

I see what you mean as I do sell too and to certain people who appear to leave pointless negative feedback i do tend to wait for feedback first. I gues the whole point to this is the feedback system doesn't really work! A person may have received one negative so you may think seems ok, perhaps the buyer was at fault whereas in reality they deserved 20 negatives but only one person was brave enough to take the bad feedback and leave the comment!

I have always sent the seller a message as soon as I've received an item that I've bought to tell them that it arrived and in good condition. I think that those people who put a comment like "A+++++++" aren't actually telling you anything.

My comments normally run along the lines of "Item exactly as described. Speedy delivery. Thanks very much." Okay, so I may not be the world's best essay writer, but at least I've gone to the trouble of making a constructive and positive (thankfully, so far!) comment!

Do you sellers agree with me as a buyer? The sellers in return have left very positive feedback such as "Instant payment. Very pleasant to deal with."

A seller left me some feedback this week which said something like '***TOP EBAYING - 100%***'.

I checked what he had left for other buyers and it's exactly the same text for over 1000 buyers!

Gets on my nerves this, like you say it's meaningless and it doesn't tell anyone how the transaction really went. Also just shows that the seller really couldn't be bothered with me once the stuff was posted out.

If a buyer is a fast payer then say so!
If a seller has quick delivery then say so!

Buyers should always leave feedback first with sellers leaving it secondly.

People have suggested the seller should leave the feedback once payment is received however the transaction is not complete at this stage - the buyer could say they have not received the item and kick up a fuss wanting a refund.

Once the buyer has received the item and leaves feedback then there is closure and the seller can leave a similar comment.

Agree with Mr_T, I always leave feedback as a buyer once the item has been received and I'm happy with it, but as a seller I certainly won't do it until the buyer has

I completly agree MR T - you've summed it up very nicely there. I only leave feedback once the buyer has done for me.
