When do you leave feedback
VH
Whenever I buy anything from EBay these days the sellers never seem to leave me feedback until I receive the item and leave feedback for them.
When I sell something, I always leave feedback as soon as the buyer pays and item is posted. I'm thinking of not doing this anymore, because I have a couple of buyers who haven't bothered leaving me any feedback after I have left glowing feedback for them.
I know that people are busy but surely it's common courtesy to leave some feedback in return to reflect how well the transaction went. Without feedback I don't even know if the stuff has actually arrived. Even a quick comment would be nice, e.g. 'Item arrived, thanks'.
What's people's opinion on this, when do you leave feedback as sellers and do you always get it returned?

I always wait until the buyer has confirmed item has arrived before leaving feedback. I send an email when I have dispatched the goods, and ask that they confirm it has arrived safely, and say I will leave feedback when the transaction is complete, and hope they feel they will be able to the same, but to contact me first if there is a problem. It's worked for all my sales so far, but it does annoy me when I take the trouble to leave feedback for sellers, and they don't bother. They may have several thousand +ve feedbacks, but we all have to start somewhere, but I don't chase the feedback, it doesn't seem to be ebay etiquette (if such a thing exists!) to do so!0

I always ask for feedback, and have never had a 'what for?' or 'can't be bothered' type reply.CarQuake / Ergo Digital0

I've only ever bought on ebay, and I've always left feedback when I've received the item. Most of the sellers that I buy from wait until I've left feedback on their account before they leave it on mine. However, the exception to the rule was a couple of days ago - the seller put his feedback on as soon as I'd paid via Paypal.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 #18 £2021.83 declared0

This is my pet hate :-/ don't get me started. :-/
I always post next day - after payment has cleared.
Always give an e-mail to say item on way and to give tracking number.
and usually, when the item has been posted, I leave feedback, because as buyers go, there is nothing more they can do, but pay on time - if they do that they get good feedback.
Recently I have been selling stuff that nobody can match price wise- anywhere ! , selling it for a third of the normal price. It is wrapped up in brown paper, labelled and sent out. Nobody has any complaints, no parcel has ever gone missing - they cannot fail to be happy with the item.
Yet 6 out of the 10 items I sold last week, have not bothered to leave feedback >:(
Imagine this. If an item you were interested in sold for £350 in the shops. and I sold you 1 for £95, exactly the same item with the same guarantee and the same promise you could return it if not happy, YOU WOULD BE HAPPY .......RIGHT :-/
so how come they can't be bothered to leave feedback ??
how come they don't even tell me when it has arrived ??
how come I don't get complaints about the items ??
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr >:(
I've started now ! gggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr >:(
I don't want them to have my stuff ggggrrrrrrr >:(
how can I get my stuff back ?? ggggrrrrrr >:(If only everything in life was as reliable...AS ME !!

Yes it really annoys me as well! >:(
I think I will change my approach now and only leave feedback after the buyer has left it. This seems to be what most sellers are doing these days.0 -
As a seller I used to give positive feedback as soon as I received payment whether by Paypal or Cheque.
What started happening though was that if someone had a problem instead of allowing me to sort it out they would leave un-fair Negative feedback. I was once given Negative because an item took 5 days to arrive and that was over a Bank Holiday!
I have received 1650+ positives and of the 7 negs. I can honestly say none were justified.
Therefore I changed my policy of only giving feedback once it had been left for me. 1 or 2 buyers have disagreed with this so I have given positive before it was received. The majority accept this because they receive a very good service.
In response to those frustrated by Buyers not leaving feedback I think sometimes it comes down to not knowing how to leave feedback.
Once a month I contact those who have not left feedback and include instructions on how to do so.
I know not all will agree with this but I have found this a suitable Ebay arrangement. No reliance should be placed on the above.0 -
I never ever request feedback from buyers if they don't leave it..there are too many buyers on there who then think it amusing to leave a neutral along the lines of 'here is the feedback you badgered me for'.
Feedback is voluntary if your buyers don't leave it then move on and forget about it. If however the percentage of buyers that don't leave feedback starts to get high then maybe they are not leaving feedback for a reason?
In the past few months I have bought two items for which I have not left feedback. One took over two weeks to send something out which I thought was excessive, the other sent me a collectable item reeking of cigarette smoke, luckily it was washable so the smell did leave it eventually.

I don't leave feedback until the buyer has left feedback for me! i've had to many just leaving neutral or suddenly deciding that they don't like the item and just leaving negative without even asking if I accept items returned! ::)0

I leave feedback once I recieved the item, when I first started buying I used to ask sellers to leave feedback, I found small sellers with low feedback did no problem; whereas the larger sellers never bothered, which is a pain when you've just started and all feedback is helpfull.
I've only ever sold a few items and left feedback once money has been received.Welcome, rogerramjet.
