Morning all,
For all my bravado last night, I've just called work to say I can't make it in. My end of Bath is a bit off the beaten (and gritted) track and since they've suspended the buses, I'm not shifting until it's gritted. Anyway, I'm going back to bed. Talk later.

Good morning folks.
How can people go back to bed once awake.Once I'm awake I'm up!
Had about an inch of snow yesterday evening but no more overnight.0 -
I have to try and make it into work - where I work you get frowned upon if you can't make it in -

Hi all-Clairewop-Beanie in same boat as you...what follow is email I just sent to my mates describing last nights events here-I got to bed at 2am after driving all sorts of waifs n strays round Mid Sussex..
"You wouldn't believe the night I had girls. Mark n Sean went to Cat,and at 2300 I had a drunken phone call saying the were 11 Italians stranded at the Cat, as their taxis couldn't get any furthur than Turners Hill-could I drive them there??? Well, we already had about 6 " by then, but said I'd give it a go. Got to the Cat, they were all standing outside,so I take the first 4,and the rest pile into Seans. It takes me 20 mins to drive to TH,where their taxis are waiting. Drop the first 4 off, and head back to Sean, slip sliding all the way, avoiding people pushing cars, and cars going sideways on the road.Another 20 mins. Load up next 4 at Seans and head slowly back, drop them off at TH,and as I'm turning car round, swear I heard a womans voice shout "Clare"..think I have imagined it so 3 point turn the car and slowly drive up the hill..hear it again so stop. Out of the murk appears Jayne Eveson and Hayley Linbourne! They have abandoned their cars in TH and were preparing to walk! They pile in and off we go...see a man walking up by the Crown,so stop and ask if he's ok-he lives in Highbrook and has abandoned his car too-it's his lucky night! Eventually get to WH and drop Jayne and Man at Fox to walk rest of way, and head back into WH for last load of Italians. Get stuck trying to turn right at WH garage, (and this is where Sam would get excited!)so let the car slide back towards the WH garage, pile on power and powerslide/drift up the road to Seans. Phew! Load up with last load of Italians, and head back to TH for the final time. Drop them off,and turn for home to get Hayley who I'd left at Seans to take her to Ardingly. Stop to ask man walking up TH if he's ok...he left his car at Saab garage and was walking to Ardingly-another man whos guardian angel was looking out for him! Hop in says I,we have a short diversion via WH to pick up Hayley and Mark and head off to Ardingly where both are delivered home. Roads getting really hairy by now, Volvo has got stuck and blocked road near showground, so I have to go offroad onto grass to go round-thought they werefrom Sweden???Oh and I forgot to mention the 8ft diameter snowball that some local teens had kindly blocked road with outside VH!Thankfully they moved it with good spirits and was last seen outside Seans, when I finally got in at 2AM!!! Phew-got home and was buzzing with the effort of driving in it for over 2 hrs,so I'm knackered!!!"

Hello all,
Hugs to school run mum - that sounds a right nightmare.
I'm not going into work today - the snow is a couple of inches thick and have just rung my boss to tell him and he was fine with it! Luckily we both travel along a road that;s pants. It was snowing and thick fog at one point last night.
At least I can crack onn with some reading for my OU course. I will also visit the little old lady that lives in our apartment building to make sure she's ok.

Good for you LMC!!
Actually-once I'd got over the fear, it was kinda fun!Didn't realise my car was so capable-yes, I know Clarkson had driven it down a ski slope, but that's TV trickery surely? Still, only bog standard road tyres..amazing job!My sister was rear ended causing £1000 damage to her car-other car written off....lets all be careful out there...Debt-free...and staying that way...0 -
Oh yes and they're very hot on health and safety and safe driving practicies, as I work for a fleet management company.
I've got images of you shouting 'POWER' at the top of your voice now SRM!!!0 -
Morning all
We've had a tiny amount of snow so everything is fine here - they grits the pavements so they are already clear
Sounds like quite an adventure SRM - you prob made quite a few people's night by helping them all!
Right off to find some coffee...0
