Selling to Students

I'm trying to come up with things to sell to students at my uni (as I mentioned briefly in the £100 to £10000 thread) but I'm drawing a blank so far on specific products
It is late tho so maybe I should think on it in the morning but thought I'd ask... do you think it's a good idea and are there any suggestions?
Thanks

Surely if youre a student you know what you buy and whether you think its worth it? I'm a student, trying to think of what we need to buy....books, text books - these can get expensive to buy so always looking for offers.
Stationery - folders, pens, paper etc. Memory sticks, laptops, computers, printers. Alcohol?!
Hope that might give you some ideas.'It is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else's life with perfection' Elizabeth Gilbert.

Funny t-shirts is a student favourite

I wasn't a student all that long ago and I agree with the t-shirt idea. Hoodies are all the rage now too. Do you have any money to invest? If so a t-shirt printing machine or possibly a wholesaler that can print a few samples for you in order to test your market should be your first port of call.
Students wearing tops with the name of their uni on seems to be all the rage but I'm sure the uni will have rights to that. I've often thought tops with the names of courses on would go down well at the moment: for example 'I do Law' or 'Drama Queen'...that sort of thing. Freshers would lap it up as their loan spends come in! Try looking at princes trust website too xx0 -
Thanks for the replies

blue~skies... I think the tshirt/hoodie idea is a good one too but my uni sell all the official clothing including hoodies with degree courses on them, so that's out unfortunately
I don't have any money to invest at the moment so I'm sort of trying to plan for when I do
I'd love to come up with a cheap but lucrative idea. And something that is cheap for the students too = more sales?! Maybe??!
I would like a plan to target the freshers in September!

what about a guide for the freshers , best and cheapest pubs/clubs in the area , cheapest places for books/paper/pens , either online or as a booklet. See if you can get student discounts in return for free advertising in you book or web site.
If a website then get some Adverts on from the likes of Amazon Associates , you can set up custom widgets to target books and gadgets etc, google Ads as well. Each person that buys books via the links earns you money.
if Paper then a small charge per bookEx forum ambassador

Ah so the universities have already cottoned on to that one then! Also, with regards to the guide idea, I went to Notts Trent uni and we were sent one of those produced by the student union (for free) but not sure if this is something every uni does.
If you want to keep it simple baking is always a good one. What is the union building like...is it big? Nottingham one was great as it had alot of student traffic walking through it so there were often stalls set up within it. If yours is like this you could always email the union to ask about the possibility of this. Will be great for freshers fayres. Being sold at ours was items like fancy dress costumes (school uniform like old straw hats - that sort of thing). Basically for the students to all use during a night out. A popular weekly stall was (believe it or not) fruit and veg. A grocers used to come and set up at the front of the union and sell loads. You could sell fruit snacks and maybe bake some oat bars or something - for students to grab on the way to a lecture when they've skipped breakfast!0 -

Only if you can't sell them cheaper....;)0 -
Fancy dress items are always popular for themed nights. Depending on the town your students might have limited access to these? Or if you have a crafty friend they could help you make decent costumes for hire?0

I like the fancy dress idea
The fruit and veg thing is out too because there's already a huge stall. And there's plenty of places to get food on campus. Why do they have to be so efficient!
These are all great ideas though everyone!
