Bad experience with Talk Talk (LLU customer)

I have battled from April through to September to connect my iMac to Talktalk having previously checked with TT's website and in local Carphone Warehouse the compatibilty of Mac OS10.4 and the TT system. I have never achieved connection and I have found out that MacOSX.4.7 is not compatible with TT's system. TT suggested I downgrade my computer! I am now being asked to pay a connection fee and broadband service for October. They will take the payment by DirectDebit and grudgingly repay in November!!!!!! I have had legal advice and have found that this problem arises out of TT's Misrepresentation and that my contract with TT is one of the Contract being Set Aside. TT should reimburse me within 7 days if the Direct Debit can't be stopped. I hope for the best! Mac owners beware!0

Surely this is only true if you want to use a USB modem. Does your iMac not have an Ethernet port?

Garidaldi8's experience of TalkTalk is not unique. I have wasted just as much time on the same merrygoround with TalkTalk and Orange. I emailed TalkTalk's CEO Charles Dustone (dunstonec@cpw.co.uk) today regarding their dubious tactics. I received a reply within the hour saying he was looking into it (!)...We'll see.
Orange referred me to https://www.samknows.com which shows all sorts of facts about broadband & ISPs. From what I can see T/T have no LLU exchanges whereas other ISPs have loads. Surely T/T could have forseen the issue of transferring between LLU and non-LLU ISPs ??? Cynical or what ?0 -

So what are these then? They seem to have more LLU enabled exchanges than any other operator!

Thanks espresso.
Maybe I'm mistaken but my interpretation is that they are all 'pending' not live.0 -

bogman - OH tell me about it!!!!!! I signed up in May and still not got my broadband either!! I finally cancelled my orange contract yesterday because of this Loop system thing - so in 10 days time i dont have a connection. I have then got to try and get Talk Talk to connect me, but am seriously wondering whether to cancel and go back to BT package.
I too have sent letters and been told to email Mr Dunstones team, which i have done - they dont reply!!!!!   Its funny how you can get an immediate response from the accounts dept if you dont pay though!!!0 -
The Talk Talk high level complaints team has admitted to me on the 'phone that they (TT) are in breach of contract, which is why they will allow me to terminate with them without penalty. Orange tell me they changed my local exchage to LLU earlier in the year which is why I cannot transfer seamlessly to TT. I wonder if they (Orange) are in breach of contract or guilty of restraint of trade by doing this without my knowledge or consent ? Any contract lawyers out there?0

Both Watchdog and Working Lunch BBC programmes have carried reports on problems with TT in the past. I, for one, would be very pleased if this thread was reported to them by an agrieved party, as I am sure that this 'local loop unbundling' (LLU) is really preventing easy transfer between ISP's and seems to be being used to lock customers in. If one of these programmes could rattle the cages of a few of the telco's involved, we might get some sytem of easy trasfer implemented.0
