NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!
  • Just replied to your same question in the Shop But Don't Drop forum, Creeslough, check that out. As for the sparks igniting and stuff, it's supposed to be just one batch as a result of wrapping the wires around the handle (which apparently not spose to do anyway), good thing about GHD's though is theyre supposed to be excellent if they do have problems no matter how long after as you send them to someone (sure someone will post the address) and they send you out a replacement immediately and no fuss.

And frankly so thery damn well should for that price!!!

  • If you don't trust ebay, £77.99 with free heat mat and free delivery from https://www.beautysleuth.co.uk is the best I found, ordered Friday and came Monday so quite impressed. They also have a freephone line for customer orders. As for any problems with GHD's, no matter where you bought from if you send them back to some address (sure someone will helpfully post :D ) they're supposed to send you back a replacement straight away, which sounds like good aftersales.

Still, sparks flying is a bit scary. My girlfriend has been ordered to be gentle with them!:p

I paid £90 to inlcude a heat proof mat, thermal hair protector spray and next day delivery. The company is online - google ghds. It is the old ones that were a fire risk. The new ones have a different code on the label and are meant to be fine. Personally I wouldn't buy from Ebay. I'd rather get them from a reputable company in case there were any problems. Mine came with a years guarantee but that could be a standard thing.

If yours have the "b" label on them then they are safe ones. I always unplug mine anyway just in case.

OK, not me, my daughter wants these, for Christmas. I am not sure where to start looking. The ones she has had before seen to self destruct after twelve months. She says the GHDs come with a 3 year (or is it 5 year guarnatee?) so people have changed theres after a few years and dont need to get buying new pairs.
She says there is a website where thye are cheaper?
Anyone have any personal stories about them?
    Or recommendation?

Bought GHD's for my daughter last year. Had heard they are not very reliable but still she wanted some. So far, touch wood, not had any problems. I bought them from a hairdressers; very helpful and said that if they did stop working to take them back, even after 12 months were up, and they would make sure they were posted back to manufacturer. Daughter loves them although I can't notice any difference between them and her old ones but she says her hair stays straighter for longer.
