welsh wrote:sorry blinky a quick question, my shrink said i should go on efexor but the GP would not prescibe it only a shrink could this, got citalopram instead. you know if this is true. also hello to everyone this evening, hope you are well :-) x
I've been on Effexor twice - the non-slow release (non-XL) years ago and currently the XL.
On both occasions it was the consultant psychiartrist who put me on them. I wasn't aware of any restrictions though.
Ring your psychiartrist (or pop-in), tell them what your GP said. They should be able to write to your GP telling them your prescription has changed. They might ask you to pop in as normally you can only get prescriptions made out at a hospital filled at the hospital pharmacy.
Hope this helps.
If anyone has to pay for their prescriptions and needs more than 1 item per month and is likely to in the future buy a pre-payment certificate - it's cheaper.
PS. Just bursting to tell someone. I said earlier I had a lovely text from 'R' well she asked if I wanted to go away for a weekend with her soon. :j :j :lovethoug :happyhearHug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

Hi rosie! Good to hear from you. Inspite of what you're going through you're sounding quite positive, which is great. Sounds like you're achieving things and enjoying some things too - like the art therapy. And good on you cleaning the bath - I daren't tell you the last time I did mine properly.... any chance you... oh never mind!
:D:D And good on your doctors being so proactive.
Enjoy dinner hun, wish I was having waffles and cheese for dinner! Sounds fabAnd ya better clean ya plate hun coz I'll be getting Tiffy to check and you don't want the tiffy eye on you, believe me!
You're doing great hun, keep it up ok?
Much love,

thanks again guys you are all pretty great and are always on here!! when you talk about R and S are these the first letters for people names? I am lucky as i live with my gf and she seems to be pretty understanding, but its only the beginning for me. scared if these pills dont work she will leave me etc, but i suppose thats the same for everyone. but love is wonderful, find we are closer as my moods are really up and down, she likes when i just want to hug for hours!!
GP couldnt prescibe effexor, dont mind just hope citalopram works. feeling a bit aggitated and stressed at the min but its only the first day, gonna switch off and watch tv, hopefully.

Can't say for Milo but in my case, yes it is. Glad to help you.welsh wrote:anyone watch eastenders at the moment, scary stuff. Pauline depressed, Staceys mum has problems, freaks me out and makes me panic just watching it :-(
I always thought Eastenders should have a health warning or be sponsored by the Samaritans....Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:
