:hello: Evening all, just thought I'd say a quick hello before I get a bath.

I go back to work tomorrow after 6 weeks off. Just been sorting all the kids uniforms out. My youngest DS starts school this week. He's only 3 1/2 but it's at a nursery attached to the school and he has to wear a uniform.

I can't beleive my baby is starting school.

I think this thread is a great idea. I have suffered from depression since my eldest was born 6 1/2 years ago. I was on medication for a large amount of that time but have been off it for a year. I'm not bad at the moment but do have off days. I can't wait to get back to work and in a routine again - it'll stop me gettting pyjamaitis.:D

I hope everyone is feeling Ok. I can empathise totally if you are not. I'm sending big hugs to all those that aren't and in fact to all those that are.

Hi Jen - my Ds starts school this week too. I've still got a baby at home though.
I am logging off now cos my DH wants attention now - if it's not the kids it's him. I just wish I could split myself in 2. I never get any time to my self. Sorry for leaving on a down note. thanks for all your support
    Good night

Morning everyone. How are you today?

Not sure what to do today, really need to go to the doctor. I could phone up and get an emergency appointment, but it could be any time and I have to go to work. Could pull a sicky from work to go or phone work and tell them that I am depressed and need to go to the doctor today to get my medication. The last one is probably the most sensible option, but it means admitting to work that my depression has reappeared (although they have probably realised that by now with the amount of times I have been at work crying!).

I hate it when my head is all in a mess about what to do.

  • Earlier in this or another similar depression thread I've suggested the use of high strength Omega 3 supplements for depression. Particularly for pregnant or bipolar people and young children or adolescents, either to support the work of prescribed anti-depressants or to avoid/delay their use.

My reason for doing so, apart from the many research papers supporting the idea, was based on the idea that the ability of the brain neurones to communicate quickly and efficiently with each other depends of the presence of long chain fatty acid molecules (particularly DHA) which because of their physical shape enable many more contacts to be made as opposed to trans fat molecules which simply block communication between cells.

I may have understated the role of omega 3's, while I knew that omega 3 acts as an anti-inflammatory agent in the body as a whole, hence it's role in treating arthritis I now see that Depression Ramps Up Inflammatory Response to Stress so it's possible that having a constant and effective supply of anti-inflammatory agent continually available, may be the reason omega 3 use has been found effective in dealing with many cases of depression. That is if taken in an effective amount and not just the odd 1000mg capsule.

But it could of course be that both the anti-inflammatory action and the brain communication enhancing properties are being used at the same time.

  • thanks for the posts. Feel even worse now but I expect that it is just the tranx working.

Have an appt with psychiatrist on the 11th so will wait and see what she says. Will give the DLA a try. Thanks for the info.
