    Hi blinky!
Thanks for your kind words re Farepak Fiasco etc. I agree with you that they try & avoid admitting anyone as an inpatient wherever possible. And if they offer you a place, there's no shame in that either. The important thing is to get help - no-one should torture themselves. The unknown is very frightening and it's the fear that can stop you getting help. But people could, as you say blinky be an outpatient, and have close monitoring from the Crisis Team. If they suggest going into hospital, think about it guys - they do this to offer you one-to-one support until you're a bit better.[quote
As I said the chances are very slim.
I've thought there are times I should be locked up too.:o Bless you ;)
However, when you are a psychiatric outpatient ( only visiting the for psychiatric appointments and for other therapies) you do come across some of the seriously ill. You soon realise you are not nearly as badly off as them, no matter how bad I've been - then I normally beat myself up over that. Sorry if this seems a bit harsh - it's just my experience.Yes, we're all very good at blaming ourselves Paul. You try and claw your way through on your own, feeling afraid & knowing something's wrong & blaming yourself or you ask for help & feel like a fraud/guilty when you see other ill people. We have to remember that these feelings are ALL part of our illnesses. And they never throw away the key!;) Sometimes however, we can be so ill that we don't think so clearly & don't realise just how ill we are.
I have days when I think I should be put down....:cry:Oh hun, you are low aren't you?headrub.gif You are so valued here & believe it or not, I have actually said that to the dr! I hope you know you're not alone & that what you feel is very common. I used to think it was just me.:o
I'm sure you understand one of the problems with mental illness is that nobody understands what you are going through. However, this thread clearly shows this isn't true and fellow sufferers are often the people who do understand. There's a multitude of illnesses represented on this board but we have a common theme - we care and we try to understand. Everyone's pain is as important as everyone else's pain. I think that's amazing.:T :A We're here for each other.;)
    Much love

Hi Beer! welcome.gif I wanted to reply before now but I've been on a sabbaticle for a week & saw your posts yesterday. You already know you're welcome here.;)

Thankyou everyone for being so kind, not that I really expected anything else tbh.
I *did* say I won't be posting, this will probably be my last one. That's what you think hun!;) I think we all think that when we first post, but then we read the replies of people who care and/or have the same problems & you're hooked!nod.gif
I won't be seeking help, ever. Had some councilling some years ago for panic attacks, it was rubbish and I really don't believe in it. Don't want drugs, how else can I be helped? There are many kinds of psychological therapies around beer and I'd urge you to keep an open mind hun. It might work for you now. Things have really advanced. As for medication angel, none of us ever wanted them. But for a lot of people, well thank God for them. They can really make a difference. Please see your GP hun. They will be able to advise you about what possibilities there are for you.
I know I have to find the reasons behind all of this and deal with them, but I'm only going to do it myself, I can be helped on an everyday level by others, but thats about it. I'm still a bit shocked I posted on here and have to repress a feeling to go back and wipe them all off, to be a man and be manly etc. Guess what beer? We've heard that before too!;) There's no shame hun. You can still be totally male! I'm glad you posted and didn't edit it out. One of the first steps to feeling better is to accept help hun. If we didn't need it, if we could be well all on our own, none of us would be here hun. You're not going to be judged for being ill angel.
I don't think I'm as bad as I made out and feel I'm taking something away from the rest of you by saying I am, I feel a bit of a fraud tbh.You probably feel this way exactly because you DID post - it can really help just to let it all out hun. Then you send yourself on a guilt trip - all expenses paid:D - and doubt yourself. I'm glad you're a lot better now but that doesn't necessarily mean you don't need help still angel.
I am alot better than I was, when I started the alcohol thread, I was so much on the edge it totally scares me to think about it now, it could have honestly gone either way, dead or alive. I only have people on here to thank for that.Best of luck to you all, I shall be watching you ;) xx
I can't force you to come back hun but I'm hoping we'll get to know you more and help whenever we can. Always keep your options open.
    Best wishes,
    Tiff xxx

Your words of wisdom have comforted me.:A

Not feeling low at the moment - largely due to last night :happyhear . I just wanted to say how I feel sometimes.

I agree that there is no shame in being admitted and it's not something to be scared off. They do try and avoid it whereever possible - partly cost and partly because there can be better ways to treat the problem.

Hugs for all who need them. I'm a big tart when it comes giving out hugs (but that's all ;) ). Hugs are undervalued - it's good to be hugged, lowers stress levels, makes you feel warm inside.

Anyway as a cat wouldn't you rather be stroked? Stroking pets is very therapeutic as well. It has similar benefits to hugs.

Sorry to hear that. Shall I send the RSPCA round to protect you?
Cats are much more whiley than dogs. They all think they're lions or tigers deep down. A cat can beat a dog on tactics. Our dog once lost a fight with a cat....

Also my best friend's cat had a great tactic when fighting other cats. She would walk up to them, smack them on the nose before running back into the house, knowing the other cat wouldn't follow her inside :D

Hope you're feeling better soon, hun. hug2.gif

  • Morning guys, hugs to everyone :)
I'm alright this morning - but last night was a 1.5 on the scale (0-10, 10 being happy). I've just got to keep going, I'll get thru this.

    Hi everybody

    feelinggood
you will get through this and we are all behind you.

    Tiff :T
I saw the farepak thread and felt so sorry for the way that you were savaged. You certainly did not offend me and I doubt that more than a handful of very self obsessed and selfish people were put out by it! probably just cross that they could not grab a freebie that they did not need.

I feel a bit of a fraud coming on here as I insist that I am not depressed - I do have a low thyroid condition that makes me tired and a bit low (my get up and go got up and went!) lol;)

Hope things are going a bit better for us all after the weekend. Big hug to all.
