I was lucky she knew I was earning a lot and so charged me £20 a session when its normally £40.

It didn't help become more confident though something I lack a lot off.

I guess that health is more improtant than money and I should put my health first. Think I will get to the dr next week and talk it through with her.

As for confidence its something I lack too.

Should be able to get councelling on NHS quite quickly as it the recognised second line treatment for mild depression after meds on thier own. All pcts have a responsibility to provide it. Sometimes it's available at the gp surgery.

Unfortunately we don't have the nhs here so we have to pay for everything costs almost £30 just to spend 10 mins with the drs

If you feel ready to come off try it, with dr's support of course. What is the worse thing that can happen - you have to go back on it. If you don't try you won't know.
But 4 months is not long to be on a med. Are you genuinly feeling better have you faced up to and resolved issues that were getting you down. If not think serously about coming off just now. You need to give yourself time to heal.
Hi everyone :hello: just reading you thread and hope you dont mind if I add to it! I see a lot of you, either are on, or have stopped taking anti depressants. It seem people cant wait to get off the tablets! For a lot of people anti depressants are life savers, and many feel they should stop taking them as soon as they feel better, they feel guilty about taking them, which is just silly! . If you were a diabetic, would you stop your insulin as soon as you felt better? Some people may need to be on anti depressants long term as their brains are not producing enough of their own 'happy chemicals' There is no shame in needing medication :D Board mods I am not giving medical advice here lol, just my opinion. :D

Being on them is a daily reminder to me that I am not as strong emotionally that I have always been and is something I would rather put behind me. I have a brother and sister who seem to go from problem to problem needing to rely on my parents whereas I have always been the sensible, strong one and having depression makes me feel that I am letting them down so much that I haven't even told them.

I know there is nothing to be ashamed about having depression, but I don't want people to be always asking how I am feeling as I feel I wouldn't be able to put it behind me and move on and would always have to watch what I say in case they start to worry.

But having said that you have made a good point and I guess I need to accept that I do have an illness and do need medication.

Sorry Love bargins if I sounded negative about meds. Trust me i'm not. But evryone feels different and med themselves are a source of anxiety for some. i would never suggest thet someone stops if they are not ready or at all if they are happy.
I regularly advocate med for people and get them to stay on med when they want to come off , but my experience was that the meds were srtessing me out and preventing me from moving on and dealing with the issues that caused the problem. I know this is not the same for everyone.
My depression has probably been circumstantial as opposed to true clinical depression.

This will make you a stronger person believe me, that is so true. When you have a really good day, enjoy it, and when you have a bad day, remember that good day!
I know what you mean about people asking how you are all the time, at my utter very lowest, no one in my family had any idea, because I hadnt told them, the thought of people keep asking 'how are you' well I couldnt take it. So I understand how you feel, its only when you can cope and manage your feeling and understand them that you may be able to tell them.

I know where you're coming frome. I am the strong one that holds everything togethrt even when I just wan't to run away and hide. most of the time everyone thinks I am together and controlled. Little do they know!

In work i am used to dealing with people, complex problems and being assertive. In my private life I am the opposite! it's really like I am 2 separate people if that makes sense. I wish I could bring my work self home with me at the end of the day!

i think it depends what is right for you.
i dont take anything as it doesnt help me, think what you will of that but it just makes me worse plus it also acts bad with another condition i have.
i think if people are on med and they want to get off it they should, but only if you are ready and it is the right thing for you.
