Mornin peeps
I'm dreading today.. I just feel so overwhelmed by everything. I didn't get my essay finished to how it should be and it's sposed to be handed in today. I've got a seminar to present tomorrow and I'm nervous as hell about it and today I've to meet the girl I'm doing it with and compare notes etc and guess what.. mine are all scribbled and not in a state to share with anyone!
Arrgghh I just want today to be overIt's sooo tempting to crawl back under the duvet and forget it all.
Anyway.. Hope you're all going to have a better day than I am.

Hope your day isn't as bad as you're fearing.
Personally I would be concentrating on the presentation and trying not to worry about the essay.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

Hi Everyone,
I tried relaxation to music and guided relaxation. I am a devout sceptic & so I was amazed when it worked. You can get the CDs in Asda etc for around £5 or in health stores or online. The more you do it, the better you get at visualisation (what you picture when you hear the music/nature sounds/ words) to the point where you can call it up at will in the most stressful situations. I searched out some sites below, most of which have some free music and/or tips or even games. I haven't tried them out myself so no shouting at Tiff if you don't like them!
Before you shout at me, sorry, I forgot to copy & paste most of the addys, so you'll have enter the address yourself on most.:o
Hope this helps someone - nothing ventured etc.
Much love

Thanks for that.. I've got it all with me so I'll spend a couple hours in the library compiling it all between classes today.
I'd be fine if I only had myself to worry about, it's just I have so many other commitments which I can't drop that i find i don't have as much time for my studies as I need.
Ho hum, here we go, lol☆ §ügÅr cØÅTëÐ pØï§Øn ☆

I've tried a few diferent relaxation tapes / CD's - some of them I can't take seriously. Particularly if they have an American accent.
I did used to have a really good one somebody gave to me but I don't think I have the tape anymore.

blinky wrote:Question:
I sort of posted this the other day in my original thread.
When is the right time in the relationship to tell the other person about your depression / mental illness?
To be it's not really a subject for early dates - I find you never know how anyone is going to react to what you say (even people you know well). I worry that the other person will think you're a psycho / madman / complete basket case. If you keep it back to long often they can sense there's something you're holding back and that can cause trust and related problems.
I posted this question on a depression forum and was frankly shocked at some of the responses. Some people said should shouldn't tell. To me that seems wrong, it's not healthy and everything we do or experience shapes us in some way, even when we recover from our problems.
Please don't fret about this question all night
Always we remember we are brave for admitting we have a problem and talking about it frankly here. Both are huge steps. Please take some heart in that. :T
Personally I find it easier to talk to other sufferers about depression as they have some comprehension of what it feels. It can be v. hard to talk to people close as you know it could hurt them.
Better go to bed. Work starts at 7am again. Sleep well. (HUG)
Morning Paul
I'd eventually lost the ability to form sentences  when I saw this gone midnight but I think it's a good question. I think it applies equally to friendships too.
If you're growing a relationship from a close friendship, then if you're close enough you would already have told them. The same goes when you feel comfortable with someone as a friend - as the friendship grows, you share more and more.
I was told that I only have to tell someone as much as I want to tell them. I had a terrible habit of wearing my heart on my sleeve and would be totally upfront fairly immediately about my experiences and my ill health - almost using it like a shield - a 'look what I've been through so you won't hurt me logic.'
Whoever we become involved with, whether we're ill or not, we don't give away all our skeletons do we? By deciding who, what, when, why & how we tell people we are actually taking control of our ill health and our hearts. You don't have to be your illness unless of course you are seriously ill but then that person would have noticed your illness anyway.
I think it's the same as deciding when to finally get help from drs - somehow, you'll suddenly know when it's the right time. Don't leave it too late because that's no fair on the person if they're not going to be able to deal with he ups and downs of mental ill health.
Humour has a good role here for when facing someone who's just found out you have depression etc. to reassure them. (I've never met an axe murderer yet! in a disappointed tone)
Something like this is tricky and we tend to think that everyone will think of us badly once they know. But the more open we are, the more relaxed we are, the more information we can give, the more it will help, not only yourself but adding to getting the word out about depression. Most people probably know someone who has some kind of mental ill health - 1 in 4 is the official count. That's why I sometimes refer to it as being a member of the 1-in-4 Club!
I also think that how we tell someone is very important. If you get over-emotional, scared, upset, angry it could have an emotional impact on the person. If you say calmly that, "I am recovering from...." that sounds more positive doesn't it? Tell them to feel free to ask questions if they want to & if you feel comfortable with that. I do think you should tell them though before you become physically intimate (Tactful Tiff today! ).
You'll instinctively know when the time's right to tell angel, which I guess is best summed up by doing it before either person invests too much time and heart into the relationship. And who's to say you won't fall for someone with a similar problem.....;)
Much love

PS - make sure you're not in public for when they start screaming and that they don't have access to any sharp objects!
With my luck, I'd be the one ending up with the axe murderer! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
