Thanks Jock & Adam
Sounds all good then!
2019 will be my year!!0 -
I have deposited £1000 on 6th January 10. I was told that £5 will be paid on the 6th February10.
My question is can i take this £1000 now and then deposit again on 6th Febraury to get another £5? or do i have to leave this amount for full month to qualify for £5 reward?
Thanks in advance0 -

no the money can be transferred in and out the same day (just be careful though if you are doing this over a weekend incase halifax systems play up and have out going before incoming has gone in.MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -

It'll actually show up on your account on 2nd Feb. They do it by calendar month - so pay in £1k between 1st-31st January, and you'll get the £5 on 2nd Feb.
They only take what you've paid in to the account. So you can transfer it straight out again, no point leaving it there for longer than you have to.no the money can be transferred in and out the same day (just be careful though if you are doing this over a weekend incase halifax systems play up and have out going before incoming has gone in.
No, Halifax will date payments properly, so if you transfer it in at a weekend, it'll still count as the day that you pay it in. I think some other banks seem to only run full updates to their system on working days (Natwest seem to do this), but Halifax do it daily.0 -
Hi everyone,
Got a question for those who have more than 1 reward current account:
Is it possible to open 1 with HBOS and 1 with Halifax to earn £10 per month?
or does that rule about 1 account per person apply across both companies?0 -

it applies for both companies, from other threads, people that have tried this have had one of them closed
those of us who have multiple accounts are usually those who got in there before the rule change (as they have not started downgrading accounts opened before december as yet)
you can have 2 if ones a sole account and you are named on a joint account thoughMFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
thanks anna42hmr, that proves that its better to get in early!
I guess apart from opening a joint account theres no other way to work the system?
As I already have a halifax reward account, if I was to apply for a joint 1, would I do it logged into internet banking, or would it end up being a completely seperate account (i.e i'll have to set up the passwords, etc)?0 -

I have 2 reward accounts in my own name(1 Halifax and 1 BoS), and opened the BoS one only last month online. They accepted it and have paid me the 1st fiver. I think theyre as confused as we are:)Justice for the 96 YNWA

Yes, all your accounts (whether savings, current account, credit card, mortgage) with Halifax and Bank of Scotland will show up under the same online banking login.0 -

Less confusion, more not properly screening for those who manage to work around the system. I'm assuming the branding causes an issue somewhere along the line, or perhaps there is no automated screening process for accounts in breach of the T&C's.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0
