High P&P -- Yet again.

Wow, what a discussion about p&p. I've bought 3 items and noticed the p&p before I bid and agreed with it.
BUT like Tribal, when one of them arrived, I was less than happy with the packaging/postage cost £20. It was double the actual postage and the packing was hardly a tenners worth. Even with fuel cost, IMHO it was way over - it would have been almost at cheap to hand deliver to me! I gave a neutral feedback cos as well as the high p&p it took a long time to come.
It hasn't put me off though as I am pleased with the items bought, and now I'm thinking of selling something (will have to look into how to do it) so I will then see what it's like from the other side."It is always the best policy to speak the truth-unless, of course, you are an exceptionally good liar." - Jerome K Jerome0 -
Well it has been said that you can see the postage and packaging costs before you bid which is very true, but I cant believe the number of people on here that seem to think it is Ok to overcharge for postage and packing and then justify it by saying it is a long way to drive to the post office and I had to waste time standing in a queue and the paper to wrap the item cost a fortune,
Lets get real here and look at worst case scenario, in this example the item is worth £20.00 and is sold for £5.00 with P&P of £15.00 so seller gets what the item is worth and has saved a couple of pence by avoiding e bay fees, so he sends the item off to the buyer and two weeks later the item hasn’t arrived so a claim is made to royal mail for a lost item details are sent along with the claim and the royal mail pays out £5.00 for the lost item
Who takes the hit on the £15.00 P&P that isn’t refunded?0 -
People are not necessarily saying that they personally think it's OK. They are saying that there may be legitimate reasons for it and that since you can clearly see the postage cost it's better to walk away if you don't like it than make interminable posts here wingeing on and on and on about it.natjay wrote:Well it has been said that you can see the postage and packaging costs before you bid which is very true, but I cant believe the number of people on here that seem to think it is Ok to overcharge for postage and packing and then justify it by saying it is a long way to drive to the post office and I had to waste time standing in a queue and the paper to wrap the item cost a fortune,

Is that true though? ebay must realise that the fees collected are not as they should be because people are 'saving' a few pence or a pound on each listing, perhaps it's something that they may take a look at in order to keep the fees at the level that are at now, it really wouldn't be fair if the fees for everyone go up because some sellers go out of their way to avoid paying them.0 -
It will change if:
People refuse to pay unreasonable postage, don't bid, and report listings instead.
It won't change if:
We all carry on paying high postage and just grumble about it on forums.
Ebay don't go looking for rule-breakers - they expect the users to do their dirty work. If we want things to change, we need to stop buying from rip-off merchants, and start reporting the blatant fee-avoiders.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

The seller takes the loss if the buyer uses paypal as paypal refund in full and include post and packing.
