Won item, P&P £15. Presumed it would come in decent packing. Came in bin liner (honest) and outside brown paper wrapping and tape. Postage £5.31. Didn't mind the packing, it was clothing, but emailed seller saying why was the P7P so high when the materials were obviously not expensive. Received a long drawn out note, "I work for the civil service in the middle of nowhere, local PO closing, so charged for petrol to nearest one and very inconvenient to get to PO because I work all week."
So far have put it down to experience, haven't been feedbacked, am sure other party waiting for me to instigate.

People always have higher postage costs too account for things and to make more on the item and cover eBay charges. The sellers then usually pass of these to the buyer.
It says how much postage costs on the item if you think its to high dont bid 0 0

You knew the postage when you placed your bid. I
'm fed up of hearing people complain about 'extortinate' P & P.
If you don't like it don't buy.
I have paid for goods where I have been charged up to thrice the postage costs but that's life.Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

thank you, and i agree. you can see the postage costs when u bid...so add them to the total price. if you like what you see then bid, if you don't- don't bid, its a simple concept. On the other hand if you really are tryin to make a point, go report them all to ebay

If the item itself sold for significantly less than £15 they'd be vulnerable to a fee avoidance investigation.
On the whole, though, I agree with 'if you don't like it, don't bid'.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0

i always think that if it arrived saftely and quickly it doesnt matter what it comes wrapped in. and i also think the same as the others, you know how much the p & p costs are when you bid!0

My sentiments are with the majority.if you don't like the P& P costs...don't bid!!
It's irrelevant how they come packaged..so long as they arrive intact...and that doesn't seem to be a problem?
 Maybe a lesson learned?

I suppose the problem is that some people think you are paying an agreed sum for the item, and, separately, the cost of the p&p.
Once you've been around a few boards where fleabay is discussed you realise that it's not quite that simple.
Although, pragmatically, I agree that you should just bid being aware of the total cost, I can see why people who have no prior knowledge of ebay shipping niceties feel aggrieved when they discover they have been "ripped off" for the p&p.0

Was it just one item or a bundle of clothing?
For £15.00 p&p I would expect a whole wardrobe of clothes, if it was only one item I wouldn't have given them the opportunity to profit on the postal charges.
She's silly really because you won't use her again and no doubt other buyers wont either.
 I value my repeat custom.0

Please try and understand.rose_sparky wrote:For £15.00 p&p I would expect a whole wardrobe of clothes, if it was only one item I wouldn't have given them the opportunity to profit on the postal charges.
The seller profits on the total amount paid.
They are not "profiting" on the P&P.
It's nothing more than a piece of book keeping.
In the same way that many companies will charge things in different ways and place them in certain accounts to minimise tax, ebayers do the same thing with P&P.
You may bleed for ebay and their lost fees when someone cranks up the shipping, but unless they were too stupid to look at the listing properly, the customer is NOT affected.
They knew the price, they found the price agreeable, they bid the price, they paid the price, they got their item for the agreed price.
 End of story.0

Oh yes, silly me, I'll try and understand in future.
If I charged £15.00 p&p for something that cost £5 plus then I'd fully expect to get a negative feedback.
Yeah ok ok...........that's my humble opinion of course.0
