LLU broadband

I am currently with Wanadoo and are leaving to go to a cheaper provider. When I finally got Wanadoo to give me my MAC code, they warned me that I have an LLU exchange and not every other company would be able to move me over.
I was going to go with Primus (after receiving my phone call) but they say I will have to cancel my existing broadband and then get BT to revery my line to normal ADSL which means quite a wait without connection.
Does anyone know of what companies I could try eg Madafish ?
Thanks

Enter your exchange into this webpage to find out what is available to you. You should be able to transfer to any non LLU ISP without cancelling and waiting for connection again.

I think you will find it VERY hard work to move to ANY other LLU provider.
Unlike the MAC procedure for the BT based phoneline ADSL, there is NO current code of conduct/transfer for LLU'd ADSL, although according to reports in ADSLGUIDE.ORG there are SOME attempts to get one trialled/going.
I was with an e7even ISP ADSL based on Easynet LLU from Nov05-May06 and when e7even fell out with Easynet - an Easynet LLU ADSL circuit couldn't be transferred even to Easynet themselves and I had to be disconnected and reactive elsewhere - making sure it was with an ISP on the MAC supporters list at OFCOM and on BT/ADSLMax so I could rely on a MAC if/when I wanted to move!
Good luck with trying anyway - unfortunately think you'll need LOADS of it.0 -
yeah you'll find it very hard to transfer, make sure they take you off the line share they have (when they provide the LLU broadband) or they'll jus take the broadband on & leave your line still tied up to the relevant SP0

make sure your provider get off your line ASAP, then you can sign up with another provider.
i too was with e7even on "easynet LLU". i had to contact easynet directly to get my line free. funny enuf, i decided to sign up with ukonline.co.uk on their LLU (which easynet owns). got connected within 4 business days!!!0 -
My exchange has both Tiscali and Bulldog as LLU enabled - does that mean these are the only companies I can easily change to ?

yea, you can go to anyone for broadband tho, it just means having some paitence thats all. As your LLU company will have to arrange to get your line released0

It's not clear from either of your posts if your present ISP is actually provided by LLU. You were told that you have a LLU exchange and in your last post you have stated that "My exchange has both Tiscali and Bulldog as LLU enabled" but was Wanadoo (Orange) provided via LLU?
If it was you may well have problems transferring to another ISP because there is not the same mechanism in place for LLU transfers as there is for between non LLU ISP's. My exchange currently two has LLU operators and two more with planned dates of August and September but Wanadoo (Orange) is not mentioned.

I am going on what Wanadoo told me that I was on a LLU type broadband. My exchange is enabled for Wanadoo LLU.

OK, but did you check the website in post #2 to confirm that Wanadoo is LLU on your exchange?
They may just be telling you porkies!

I did thanks and my exchange is LLU enabled for Wanadoo.
I am thinking it might be best to just cancel Wanadoo and start again with a new company
