Just to make a note of what I purchased today- so happy we're doing this. The produce is all so much better and cheaper than supermarkets.

    1) 25 satsumas- £1.00
    2) 12 apples- £1.00
    3) 2lbs of cherries- £2.00
    4) 3 small punnets of raspberries- £1.00
    5) 5 avocadoes- £1.00
    6) 15 large tomatoes- £1.00
    7) 1lb of onions- 40p
    8) 2 broccolis- £1.00
    9) 4 large leeks- £1.65
    10) 12 free range eggs- £2.00
    11) 4 bunches spring onions- £1.00
    12) 10 long sweet pointed red peppers- £1.00
    13) 4 large heads of garlic- £1.00
    14) 2 large chicken breasts, 1lb lamb mince, 1lb of beef mince, 900grams bacon- £13.00

    Total- £28.05

Then I bought bread, cheese, milk, gravy, lasagne sheets, pesto, oil etc from supermarket- £9.35

I've made lamb mince into shepherd's pie and beef mince into lasagne. Full meal plan to be posted for this wee- if it was just me I could stretch the portions but OH eats like a lion!:rotfl:

Ok, need to focus as there are 13 days til payday and OH and I are skint. I have enough fuel to get me to and from work and enough money on oyster to get me to and from uni. OH has his travelcard to get him to and from work until the day before my payday- then he can just pay for one day's travel to make it to 24th.

We have plenty of food for this week. I have been batch cooking today and tomorrow will make up lunches for OH and myself. So my targets until 24th June:

    1) List at list 5 things on ebay (shoe boxes, wine rack, old laptop, stereo, Cambridge diet shakes- need to find other things)

    2) Aiming for 10 NSDs

    3) No buying lunches for myself or OH

    4) Sort out budget for June 24th-July 25th

    5) Sort out car insurance, TV license and Sky direct debits

    6) Sort out OHs new bank account

    7) Research getting a cheap exercise bike when paid

    8) Use leftover money on a Tesco Moneycard for getting milk/sandwich stuff if necessary (around £3 on there)

    9) Sort out uni funding and officially enrol

    10) Keep flat tidy. I do very well at this but OH needs to pull his weight a little more.

So not an exciting fortnight ahead of us but definitely do-able. Hopefully time will fly by as work is hectic for both of us.

    hello! :)

Me too. It is a bit of a hassle lugging everything back to the car then up into the flat but I suppose it's totally worth it and good exercise! It costs us £1.40 to park too.

Most of the items like the satsumas, apples, avocados, red peppers and tomatoes are piled in bowls. Each bowl is sold for a £1 and you pick the ones you want. Last week I got a massive bowl of courgettes and aubergines so I'm making a huge vat of ratatouille to go with my meals.

I know its impossible to not use the supermarkets completely, and probably not always cost-effective and convenient, but when I look at those prices, I can't believed I paid them.

In Mr T's, I would have paid £3 for the raspberries, £3.50 for the avocados, £3 at least for the satsumas, the peppers are £2 for 2 and I got around 10 etc etc

Of course you can't guarantee what they'll have from week to week but they always have the staples of cooking and most things are seasonal.

The best part of this, is these prices are in LONDON! Normally that means paying more, not less. I'm not sure the meat is much cheaper but the quality is better and £13 for enough meat for 2 people for the week sounds like it's cheaper to me! :money:

Let me know how you get on if you venture out to your market!

OH is snoring away in bed, I'm up and awake and trying to use this time wisely. So- an hour of ebay listing it is- coul I list him on ebay? Wonder if he'd fetch much?! Ahh, I couldn't do that. :lovethoug

So- trainers, wine rack, boxes, cambridge shakes and something else will be listed today. Need to get old laptop checked over/formatted first to make sure it works and all my personal details have been erased from it.

2 loads of laundry done last night at 30C. Got 2 to do today. Then sort the lounge out and hoover the whole flat. Everything else was tidied last night.

Weather is drizzly and cold and grey- great when you're sitting indoors but means venturing out is unlikely. So too then is spending £££ so the weather is money-saving!:money: I'm going for a NSD.

Discovered I have £77 in my bank account. Must pay sky £49 as it's been cut off. I know lots of people say Sky should be the first thing to go, but for us socialising so much went instead so I kept sky. It includes the internet and house phone and Sky plus. I will look to see if I can cut a few quid off it.

Hope some peeps will cast their eyes over my SOA and see if I can improve elsewhere too.

Phew...productive day. So far I have:

    1) Listed 11 things on ebay
    2) Emailed Ikea to ask for a replacement part- when that arrives that's another item I can put on ebay
    3) Formatting old laptop- it's 3 years old but something's wrong with it. Will list omn ebay once I'm sure all my stuff is off it and hopefully some technically-able person will bid and take it off my hands
    4) Checked online banking
    5) Done all laundry on 30c
    6) Had shepherd's pie for dinner- will have roast tomorrow instead
    7) Put up new blind in bedroom- that's all the blinds up and finished

    Now I just have to:
    1) make lunches for OH and I for the next couple of days (I only do 2 days of lunches ahead)- DONE
    2) put dry laundry away- SOME DONE, SOME STILL DAMP
    3) quick tidy up of lounge- DONE
    4) hoover flat
    5) small bit of washing up/putting away.- DONE
