thanks for the advice and experiences guys, i found it very helpful.

I got an email back but unfortunately it made me look a bit stupid. I had infact wrote 'i was disgusted to find a pistachio in my maggots this morning'. LMAO!

The pistachios arent great anyway, i might try the dry roasted and salted maggot just incase its any better.

    Probably more flavour ;)

From experience (I once found a large fly doing backstroke in a tin of Heinz Spag bol) the more light hearted you can keep your emails the better the response. Heinz sent me £10 vouchers (from memory) so your comment of finding nuts in your maggots could well go in your favour :D

I came home from work one day & found maggots crawling around in Orbits food dish,as I'd fed him one of Asda's own brand cat food pouches,I called the complaints line number on the back.
A few day's later I recieved an Asda gift card loaded with £10!!!

did you notice this happening again afterwards?

i ask because it may not have been an issue with the food, you cat may have a parasite infection

In my younger days I worked in Tesco and maggots were a massive problem with pet food. More often than not cases of food were thrown, not so delicately, onto cages for distribution and the odd can would burst. By the time the food reached the store it would be moving lol

Of course, with the advent of pouches it got worse, popping was easier and not always noticeable so maggots could find their way in through the smallest of holes and not be found until tiddles got his tea.

yea, the worry i had was that the cat might have had some sort of infection, but after doing some more reading, it can be from a whole myriad of things, usually flies laying eggs on and around the damaged packaging and the larvae making their own way toward the exposed food.

this thread has really put me off my Doritoes...:rotfl:

I understood your point, just wanted to say that maggoty pet food is very common though :D
  • The obvious reason why maggots would be found in a cat's food is that flies would have laid their eggs on it during the day. I never leave my cat's food down after he's eaten in the summer-time because of this. I don't want my precious boy eating fly eggs, never mind filthy maggots

I once found a fish bone in a sandwich from Boots. After checking the package didn't have any warnings, I kept it and took it back the next day. I was instantly refunded, profusely apologised to by the manager and they took my name and address. They sent the bone off to a lab or some place for testing, I received a letter a week or so later apologising again and another week after that I received another letter with a £15 Boots gift card.

I couldn't have been happier with the way they dealt with it! :D
  • I bought some steak and kidney from the reduced to clear in Asda @ 3.45 per pack I bought 2 along with some fresh veg and made a stew

We always eat the stew the day after we've made it to enhance flavour and on tasting it this morning the kidney is rancid

I did notice that the packaging was slightly wet so I dont know if there was a small perforation in the packaging but my partner is out of work and we are on a very tight budget

We still have the stew as proof but how do I go about getting a refund

I dont know if Ive even got the receipt

    Regards

    E Harding
