Whilst agree with your point about KNOWING the price at the end: I think Ryanair's pricing policy is very cleverly designed to confuse the punter and once they start on the booking/pricing process they won't pull out.
Yes - when you book that 99p flight to wherever you end up paying a LOT more - but have a look at the other airlines prices. BA come in for a lot of stick but they are a pretty good airline. I used them a lot before I retired - and Aer Lingus too !
People get this idea that BA are expensive - they are if you are going First Class to LA. The last two times I have been to Spain BA were actually cheaper than the budget boys - and if the aeroplane breaks down or gets lost they can usually rustle up another from somewhere. Try that with RA or Easyjet !
I don't wish to sound "snobby" - but I know which is the better travel experience out of RA and BA !

The big difference is that with BA the price you see is the price you pay. It does charge extra for credit cards, admittedly, but makes no loading for debit cards, a form of payment which most travellers can make, compared to a prepaid Mastercard.

Ask yourself the question, why is RyanAir doing what it is doing? The answer has to be to allow it to show headline fares which bear no resemblance to the actual price paid.

On a forum which is supposed to be about promoting consumer sovereignty, why are there so many who continue to fawn over an organisation which is all about smoke and mirrors, and which will push boundaries of honesty to their limits.

Price might be the bottom line, but there are other considerations.

About £80, BA were a fiver cheaper - for "full service" too !

3. And of course don't forget the additional cost with Ryanair when you find that the airport for the place you are going is actually an ex air force base 50 miles away !

Most of Ryanair's airports are actually very close to the city centre.

In some cases, Ryanair fly closer to to major cities than the main airport - Rome is a great example of this.

Many smaller Ryanair destinations are actually destinations in their own right - Girona is a wonderful city, for instance.

So why describe it as Girona (Barcelona) or Reus (Barcelona). Barcelona airport ID is BAR Girona is GIR and Reus is REU yet Ryanair use Barcelona BAR as an identifier then the option to choose either Girona (Barcelona) or Reus (Barcelona). Clearer to describe them as Girona and Reus.

Generally any airports that aren't the main airport to the city are qualified with the airport name (e.g. Frankfurt Hahn rather than Frankfurt). This allows people to choose whether they would rather fly with another airline to get to the main airport. To take your example of Barcelona, when I last went there Easyjet were offering some good prices to BCN airport, so it was a no-brainer to choose Easyjet for that journey. If there had been some special offer fares to Girona with Ryanair I might have decided differently.

Actually, I choose to fly to either Reus or Valencia until the new airport opens at Castellon, as they are closer to my destination than Barcelona or Girona.

English people may know that Stansted and Gatwick are not London - but foreigners may not.

What do you say to someone that's turned up at Stansted and is complaining to the heavens it's not near London: Why didn't you research it first? Surely the reverse would also apply.

Cheapest way from Stansted - London is £9 on a hour and bit coach journey, which is not that much cheaper or quicker than Girona-Barcelona.

A lot of the less-publicised airports that Ryanair uses are damn close to the city, but the difference is no-one likes talking about them. Valencia is a prime example of that.

Ive flown as well on cheaper flights to Spain with BA than Ryanair or Easyjet twice before.
