Ah, the joys of running down the street with a dog who refuses to wee in the garden, pot in hand, trying to shove it under her behind every time she squats, to the bemusement of various neighbours.
I tend to find the once the meds kick in, the dog feels better pretty quickly. With any luck it'll be a one off occurrence for you both.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have not could of.
  • My male GSD had a urine infection a couple of years ago too. Seemed to appear out of nowhere, blood in urine, wanting to wee all the time but only a little being passed each time. I panicked, booked in at vets asap, took time off work etc. and yes, it was a water infection! :rotfl:

Re: trying to catch wee for a sample, we had a spare sample bottle that we took to the vets. My OH invented a wee-catching device that consisted of sellotaping a stick to the pot and holding it under the dog :o. Dog was very confused but we managed not to get wee on our hands!! :rotfl:The joys of being a dog owner!

  • Glad your dog is OK even if your wallet is not! Mind you, my dog's recent cystitis cost over £90 so you did better than I did!!

We had a similar problem over Christmas when the vets were closed.

Cassie (11 weeks old) was peeing much too often. She was peeing once, and then having 2 or 3 phantom pees. She was also peeing in the house more often, which is unlike her, as before that she was almost fully housetrained.

    We suspected a UTI.

I read somewhere that a natural remedy is to give the dog extra vitamin C. This will make the urine more acidic and help flush out any infection. We crushed a chewable vitamin C tablet into her food every morning for 5 days. It worked. She is back to normal and no vets bill!

    Good luck.

    - love this hahaha, how inventive! theres me chasing Cookie with a pot, he was devestated!:rotfl:

I am having to let my female out constantly this evening, luckily it is only so that she can play in the snow, she loves it! she keeps trying to entice Cookie out to play but he's having none of it!lol:rotfl:

Re the antibiotics kicking in, they worked pretty much sraight away, i gave him 1st dose in the evening and we both had a full nights sleep! thank god! (he is much happier now:):D

I will keep the vit C in mind if it flares up again, fingers crossed it dosent though.

Sorry guys but it is against the board rules to ask for or provide medical advice - for this reason I am going to have to close the thread.
