Can someone please suggest a good way to tackle a slightly neglected gas hob? It is getting worse, I do most of my kitchen, but kinda close my eyes to the hob, I need help please.

I've got a gas oven and hob. And when I moved in here in May last year it was minging and I mean seriously minging:eek: So much so that I didn't know where to start.

So first things first. Baby steps. Do a bit of it each week. Some weeks you might get a bit carried away and want to do more once you can see there's light at the end of the tunnel. Other weeks maybe not. However you do it. Little and often will get you there in the end. ;)

I'm in the habit now of always wiping over the oven, hob and grill everyday or when it's been used. Result being I only have to stick the oven shelves in the bath with some soda crystals every now and again ;) And when piggers sticks clean oven and hob on the list I know I won't have to do it! Just whiz it over with a 50/50 mix of water and white vinegar. Niffs for a few minutes but works a treat

  • Well after the shock of finding out that my daughter's preschool doesn't start until Wed, we're having fun at home whilst my older twins are at school. Had plans of getting loads done, but not so easy with a 3 year old in tow. And her favourite shout at the moment is 'Mummy, I want you!!!!' So not sure I'll get it all done today but hey ho :)

For my hob and oven front I keep a stash of babywipes to wipe it down after splashes and muckiness.

For a tougher job I've used the long forgotton about steam cleaner that was lurking in our garage to shift the worst of the grease.

Some plonk all the removables like racks and trays etc in the bath with washing powder (I think).

Good luck, I cleaned my oven inside for the first time in 4 years last year....:rotfl:it wasn't that bad, I think its supposed to be self cleaning.:D

    Morning all

Not caught up yet! But I did look at the list last night and I've completed it, even the extras. I also did a couple more cupboards, as we've been using stuff up I've been able to tidy them better. Tidied a couple of drawers too. My under the sink cupboard is full but I've been through it and there's nothing to throw away, though I probably don't need any washing up liquid for a couple of weeks.....

Very cold and frosty here, I've cleared the bird bath four times already but the birds are using it so it's worthwhile.

Hope everyone's OK, going to catch up a bit now.

Happy Birthday to Quillion and lil-me's DS1 :):bdaycake:

Glad you found your safe keys greenbee :)

    Congratulations scared1980 :)

Thanks Ragz - must have been scary having contractions on top of being ill. How long have you got now if you don't mind me asking?

I'm going to have to do baby steps because I'm bored already so I'll just put a wash on. I will be back xx

Was scary and incredibly painful as the bump is BIG and it hurt all over! Same thing happened a few days before I had DS2 though, I called out midwife and it turned out to just be a tummy bug!
Got just over 3 weeks to go, though head's been engaged for weeks so slight possibility of an early one but other two were both a week late so who knows. I am sooooo very uncomfortable this time though so really hoping she's early.

Do try not to do anything, I know how you feel though, the state of my place after I was ill for a few days was shocking and of course kids were ill too so the washing pile was HUGE. But really rest is what you need.
