I am taking tramadol at the moment, had major operation just before Christmas and they use tramadol post op. My GP gave me another prescription for it a few days ago - she told me it was ok short term but it can be addictive! I take tramadol and paracetamol (500) at moment on top of my other meds for ME.

I really think you should call your GP tomorrow if you believe you are having a bad reaction to your meds.

Seems to be passing, hopefully, think the darkened/cool room have taken the sting out of it, the nausea's slowly passing. Thank God I only took one lol.

GP for me on Tuesday when they re-open I reckon, if I'm lucky enough to get an appointment !

It's interesting though to see that some folk are fine with it, others less so.

tr82, it sounds like your reaction to tramadol is like my reaction to ibuprofen. Some meds do that; migraine isn't a common side-effect of tramadol, but since it's one you get, a different medication may be better for you. Ask your doctor about it.

  • I was on Tramadol for 4 months for severe back pain - I didnt know it was addictive and had a dreadful time weaning myself off them - they are good painkillers but I wont take them again.

  • Hi tr82,
I've been on maximum dose of tramadol since march last year. I do find sometimes i get itchy after taking it, but for the most part am ok. it really has been the only painkiller that has touched the pain I have. Hope you can get something sorted out with your GP :)
  • hi,interesting thread as i react badly to a lot of painkillers, but have been on max dose of tramadol for severe backpain for last 5yrs and could not survive without them, yet reacted badly to kapake, best to see your doc about it,i was always advised to give them a trial for a week to two weeks.i am now about to go on slow realease tramadol for which i have heard a lot of horror stories about and unsure whether to put up with pain or try slow release.
i came into the world with nothing, and guess what? i still have it!!!:p
  • I take it long term too. Also take Omerprazole daily as I have a 'cocktail' of painkillers. The Omerprazole stops sickness, but as its also prescription only you need to talk to your GP. Best wishes

Well the nausea's gone, just feel totally washed out now with a wee bit of a headache. A lie down should cure all.

Amazing how a big 6' tall guy like me can be humbled by such a small tablet. Definitely not for me, this Tramadol, defo not. Am sure the GP can prescribe me back onto Zapain which cured most of the pain, the only problem I had with that was constipation & that's sure less disagreeable than what I've just gone through.

Listen, cheers to all for the advice.

OH is insisting I sleep in the spare room tonight with my bucket ! Probably best, I'll check back in tmorro, thanks peeps.
