re : "Oh yeah, forgot it said 'ride'!"
I did find an Ilkely Moor Fell Race for bikes when googling which showed the route map, but as a newbie couldn't post link!!!
I think it ended at Wells Road, but now can't find page again - might have been "mapmyride" or something similar? I know that's not much help.
Sorry, should have noted web address!0 -
ive not posted before.... so i hope this works.
So far i have -
where wind rocks the pulpit and wellington lay, A round about writer will show you the way - William Makepeace Thackeray wrote The Roundabout papers.
XLVII between dennis and snob - In 1847 he wrote Vanity Fair, which was after "the book of snobs" but before "Pendennis"
The stand then where stood fell with heavenly job - Vanity Fair is mentioned in "The Pilgrim's Progress" by John Bunyan. In which Beezelbub is also mentioned who is a companion of the devil. The devil is also known as Lucifer, the angel that fell.
This US man was first lauded , but where? - Lucifer translates to Light-bearer or morningstar. Richard Morningstar earned a, magna !!! laude, from Harvard.
Now this is were i get stuck......
A mark to bring safety is found around there - im thinking Yale?!?!? Their mascott is a bulldog?!?!? put D O G with child in a room thats reversed, G O D child??!?!
thats as far as ive got. So close, yet so far..... any thoughts?0 -
"US MALE" = anagram of Samuel. Samuel Plimsoll's safety mark around the hull (Hull?).
If this is Samuel Plimsoll "first lauded", where he first was elected as MP was Derby. Have been looking around Derbyshire area for a moor that might fit - but no luck (thought "creature with child in" it may have something to do with Beast of ??? Moor?).
Any other possible leads out there??
ADDED 16.38 12/01/10
more mad thoughts...
"A CREATURE WITH CHILD IN A ROOM THAT'S REVERSED" =
creature = shire (as in horse)?
child = yr (as in abbreviation for younger - reverse this to RY)?
room = bed (as in bedroom! - reverse this to DEB)?
Put together = DERBYSHIRE
This is the first of these hunts I've done and will prob be the last - it's driving me mad!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
When do they post the answers to their hunts? Are they usually done promptly after the closing date or do I have to suffer for another week?!?
Did anyone crack it btw??0 -
Oops, I forgot all about this!

They should hopefully have the answer tomorrow, although sometimes you have to wait a day or two.seeker_of_truth wrote: »When do they post the answers to their hunts? Are they usually done promptly after the closing date or do I have to suffer for another week?!?
