I've had the same leak on my rover 75 - tried the sealant - but has not worked - just taken it to garage today and quoted £658 to replace head gasket/water pump and cam belt (all replaced 3 yrs ago) - also air con has gone (again) - Total nearly £800..... am looking at replacing car but where to start - I love my Rover 75 and theres nothing to compare - not for the trade in value anyway!0

you don't have the same leak then. the ops coolant reservoir has burst. your head gasket has gone apparently.
i don't understand how you can love a car that goes through head gaskets like oil filters.

The coolant in my car has a tendency to shrink in very cold weather.
I test my coolant's quality and the range of cold protection the current mix from the coolant tank is good for, with a sample dabbed onto my refractometer (device to test coolant) I bought on ebay for £20.
From another forum (cars - USA forum)I hope this saves a few people the frustration of reading through 10 posts to find no answers about their low coolant this winter. G12 coolant, the coolant that we use in our VW's as specified, has a tendency to shrink in extremely cold temperatures! If you get a low coolant warning this winter, don't stress out! Simply add a cup of distilled water and keep an eye on it, but most likely your G12 has simply contracted and you really don't have a leak!
G12 can be mixed with distilled water anywhere from 40/60 to 60/40 and still be completely effective at protecting from freezing down to -34 degrees F and boiling up to 226 degrees F. The proper ratio to mix is 50/50 but like I said earlier, if your G12 gets low this winter don't freak out, just mix in a cup of distilled water so that your resevoir shows the appropriate level as indicated on the side of your coolant resevoir. Good luck and have a good xmas.0
