Anyone else will try and bill you for stuff you dont need.

What a load of rubbish. You're just tarring everyone in the Motor Trade with the same brush. I've worked as a Technician for main dealers for about 13 years and I can say that I've never known anyone to be billed for work that wasn't done.

I had it checked by garage technician and they are going to replace the reservoir which is leaking £105 is what they are quoting for the tank.

this is definatly what i would be doing, £15-£20 max for the reservoir, 5 minutes to undo a hose and 2 bolts.
    ...work permit granted!

Unless you live someplace completely out of the way you must have a breakers yard near you surely??

When you find it, you'll probably have a few Mondeos to choose from.

As Goldspanners says, undo hose and bolts; fit to your car.

If your really not confident, you must have a mate that could help?

If really no breakers near you why not look on ebay or Google "Mondeo expansion tank, 2nd hand" ?/

£100 too pricey to fix this methinks. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for your help mollycat - that keyword was really helpful. But I'm a bit too late to save money on this coz..my car is already on the garage and my partner already given the go ahead for the replacement work to be carried out.

But they have raised some other issue which are not going to be repaired by these lot. I'll have to find an independent garage (tried googling it but no luck..no results coming up in my area).

I'm after rear break pads - they are quoting £140 for it and the Ac compressor (Ford says its leaking and needs replacing) which is quoted as £650--But no plans to do that unless I find an affordable price.
