Anti freeze leak
Hi,
I've topped up antifreeze for my Car (Mondeo ) about 2 weeks ago, but when I had look at it this morning its dropped below the minimum level gauge.
I remember fixing a leak in the antifeeze system about 2years ago but that was done at the Ford service centre. But I was thinking of taking my car to the Nationwide purely because its nearer and will save me some money.
But NW said they can't guarantee a same day fix due to part ordering and stuff. So I'm having a rethink...of taking it back to Ford coz..they offer 1y guarantee for any repairs they do...
Please advise.

no advice on the fix, but next time you have to top a fluid up, check it sooner than 2 weeks!0

I've got a leak aswell, but I am suspecting its one of my hoses which is on order from vauxhall
you could try and pin point the source of the leak by topping up, starting the car and observing underneath the car, the water pump and the hoses that form the cooling system
by any chance are your passenger footwells wet?0 -
i wouldnt take it to nationwide they usually arent too interested in repairs.
find a recomended independant garage that should be able to get parts same day and fix it the same day....work permit granted!0 -
Any small leak can easily be sorted out by adding a small bottle of "Barrs leak stopper" to your colling system (easy to follow intrucions on label) It costs less than £5 at Halfords and is a realy good economical way of sorting out such problems.0

That barrs leak sometimes knackers the heater matrix or the radiator and it doesn't sort out pin hole sized cracks on hoses0

the lights are only any good if you take heed of what they mean in enough time to save any damage....work permit granted!0 -

...and could cause you to block your heater matrix and cause more trouble...0 -

Basic car checks should be part of the driving test. Jeez...0
