I went out the day after Boxing Day and bought all my cards and wrapping paper in the sales. I also decided that I would have a certain colour scheme for our house this Christmas so purchased some very expensive lilac and purple decorations at bargain prices.

I understand that after Christmas Wilkinsons reduce all their Christmas stock to 10p an item (including trees) so I will be looking out for that as there are apparently lots of bargains to be had in readiness for Christmas 2007.

for my sins i used to work in wh smith until just over two christmases ago (left in the november). once the sale ends the stuff that doesn't sell becomes whats known as penny stock. it should then be binned. in reality it goes into the staffroom to be picked over. i haven't bought cards or paper in three christmases. last year my bows ran out so i'll have to pick them up this year, but should have plenty cards and wrap for a fourth christmas.

it's a good thing my house comes with huge cupboards over the wardrobes! :rotfl:

  • Hey Welshy, hope you and the kittys are well....Thanks for the tip about the scouts, will need to contact my local scoutleader, my wee boys only 11 months old so it'll be years before he can join and deliver them for me....for free hahahaha... only joking, they need their funds xx

Hello now a mum&skint, yes my kitty's are doing very well and growing very quickly. Diesel's "sensitivity" problem has been cured by switching his food and he is no longer called "stinky cat" But as I said to the cat's home when told of his problem, you cannot scare me I have 4 children ...........

I put my son's name down for scouts when he was 2 weeks old as the one local scout group has a huge waiting list. It may be worth checking your local scouts out.

I managed to get 16 bottles of bath foam and shower gel today at Tescos for just 88p - top bargain and great for presents for the school teachers.

    I just love Christmas.

Nectar points should be building up nicely too which will help with the festive shop.

Don't forget that Nectar points are worth twice as much if you get them as Adams vouchers! I always use my Nectar points in Adams, and buy childrens presents in there. Also between 19-25 August there is a promotion on and you get even more Adams vouchers for your Nectar points - Martin has a thread about it somewhere.
