Its our first wedding anniversary on december 16th too!! so any cheap ideas or freebies would be a fantasic help!
Hi, you obviously have a difficult road ahead and will need the support of your family to succeed.
A good idea is for the adults to pick a name each out of a hat and buy one really nice present for that person.
Another idea is to set a limit on presents E.G £10 per head (or less!) It takes the 'competition' out of trying to outdo each other with gifts and also makes you very creative with what you buy!
Also, can you all muck in and do the big Christmas dinner together each contributing an item for the meal? celebrate the whole family coming together like this instead of relying on presents!
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
hey guys, since a few of you wanted i'll post up the instructions. i'm planning on doing it tomorrow (monday). it may need to go on the os forum, i dunno, but if i do it there i'll post up the link on here for you guys.
i do have a stocking pattern, tho am not sure how to get it to ya! i could do instructions for it too, but you'd need to draw your own stocking shape...
maybe i should start a lyns' how to thread...feel like i'm on blue peter or summit...and here's one i made earlier! lol0 -
Thanks Lyns
I would like to have a go at that too. The tree looks a bit fiddly but I'm sure I could manage a stocking.
If you do get chance to post the destructions could you please make them idiotproof.

I sooooooo agree, what a brilliant idea, Im gonna suggest that too, might take the stress out of the meal a bit for my dad..........who secretly loves escaping to the kitchen on hectic Christmas day!!!! I look forward to going to my parents for his Christmas dinner all year, so I think I should contribute a starter or a pudding, maybe my bro/sis could buy the wine.............and, I think offering to do the dishes afterwards would be the best present my mum and dad could wish for!! hahaha. :T :rotfl:This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man. I've bought a lot of decorations, wrapping paper etc from Woolies - I know the branch near me in Ilford has a massieve clearence outlet - for £15, I had a binbagful of xmas and halloween decorations, trays, bowls etc etc, considering one of the items was a PVC catwoman mask and gloves for £3, £12 for a binbag of decorations was a nice little bargain, my first xmas away from home, and financially dependant as well - can understand how so many people struggle!
As for presents, I do a lot of carboots all through summer - can pick up some lovely things in perfect or new condition cheap, and keep them aside for xmas or birthdays, good for things like cards as well.~*Cerenia*~

Thanks guys. I have sorted a new budget planner, saved a bit from my shopping etc, so i can put some money together for some small pressies. Me and the husband have had a nice talk tonight about christmas. we both know how tight money is and also how stressed out we both are, so we have agreed that this year will be simple. And maybe this way, we will actually realise, we have the most important pressie, we have love! God, am going soppy!! lol0

I have started buying pressies, try Boots. At the moment they have a toy sale on and if you ahve a ad card and get the coupons from the parenting mag there is almost always a coupon to get 200 points for spending £10. I also got some fab toiletries Addiad shower bag thingie for men a/shave and such reduced from £13 to £5. Lovely silver photoframes 1/2 price. afertrshave gift set £6 to £2.50. It is well worth having a look.
ALso if it toys keep a look out in Sainsburys they reduce their ELC stuff quite regular. I got a blow up lion reduced from £6 to £1.50.0 -
