It's quite possible that their cereals have improved. It's been years since I last tried any. All the ones I tried had an after-taste, very similar to multivitamin tablets.

Seems the chocolate puffed rice is favoured by some. I might try it again some time.

I'm going to start shopping at Aldi, was wondering if they take debit card or is it cash only?

My Aldi takes debit cards, but probably best to take cash as well just in case
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D
  • You can also get cash back when you use your Debit card.

I've heard that some take credit cards (possibly in Scotland or Wales?), though have never found one myself.

l agree with caro100 pasta is good and cheap, l always get their cereal bars too they're currently on offer 89p for 6 (l think)

    jars of pesto
    coleslaw
lemon dusted yellowfin sole fillets in the freezer (actually l think that's Aldi but worth checking out too)
    yoghurts are good too
    and definitely the super 6

yellow fin sole is lovely and they also do flounder (£1.50) and its good to
We like Aldi's malted wheat/shreddies cereal!

    I LOVE ALDI! :j
I've been doing about 50% of my weekly food shopping there for the past 4 years or so. My list of good things to buy is pretty long, but their weetabix tastes as good as the real thing and their biscuits and chocolates are lush! I also buy...
    cartons of juice
    bread
    fruitloaf
    ciabatta
    part cooked rolls
    bread rolls
    croissants
    cakes
    mayo, sauces, gherkins etc
    ham/beef slices
    pork sausages
    meatballs
    pizza
    garlic bread
    eggs
    cheeses (good selection)
    pasta
    tom puree
    jars olives
    cartons passata
    beer
    frozen yorkshire puddings
    frozen turkey crown (xmas)
    frozen legs lamb
    gammon/ham joints
    coleslaw
non bio soap powder/tablets (much cheaper)

I buy 99% of my fruit and veg there and cannot understand why people have problems with it staying fresh as I've never had problems with it. Their grapes seem to last longer than Asda's and I've got veg I bought there 2 weeks ago stored in my shed and there's nothing wrong with it. If the fruit and veg is stored properly then it lasts as long as other supermarket's. In fact I've got a melon in the fridge from a couple of weeks ago that will be eaten tonight.:D

They do accept Debit cards and also do cashback, but do not take credit cards and you will need to take your own bags or you will have to pay for some.
Since shopping there every week and then getting the other stuff from Asda/Tesco I have cut my grocery bill down from about £100 per week (4 years ago) to about £60 for a family of 4. :D

Scotland region takes Credit Cards, everything apart from American Express.
I believe that this was the trial area for CC and should at some point be rolled out to all regions
