Tips for ALDI

They do a luxury fruity mueseli that is lush in Lidl - but not tried the Aldi one.
I don't get very much in Aldi other than the fruit and veg - but this is well worth the visit.
They also do some very nice packs of cheeses - there is a smoked salmon flavoured one that is to die for and the garlic and herb one is every bit as good as boursin or philly."there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -
We buy Aldi's tinned fruit - all of it is good and cheaper than the cheap inferior lines in the main supermarkets. Also, their tinned rice pud goes down well in our house.
We don't like their cheese, but cooked meats are OK and so are their crisps. Their laundry-washing liquid is good and also their biscuits. Their fresh meat is pot luck - usually good but occasionally we have had poor stuff, so don't buy it now.
I've bought several items from their odds and ends racks and always found them good value - but managed to resist the temptation to buy a portable concrete mixer priced at under £50 recently!0 -
We don't get to Aldi very often as its a bit out of our way. DD is a very fussy eater but loves it when we go.
Frikadelas (sp?) a german lamb burger, don't smell nice when you open the packet but taste delicious.
Bratwurst - I love it
They do mini pizzas a bit like the chicago town ones but much cheaper.
Wedges, big bags very cheap , DD says they are the best she's had
onions , i buy a good sized bag of second class onions which are good for making soup , 29p!
DD also likes some choclaty sweets they do - mouse chocolate ?
They do their own baileys as well - brandy alexander, very nice.
Not sure of the prices of stuff but i know i can fill my fridge and cupboards for half the price of asda and we've always been satisfied.
Rememer to take your own bags though as they charge .When it rains look for RainbowsWhen its Dark look for Stars0 -
Love their 'breaktime' chocolate bars and their ketchup, prefer it to branded...do like some other items from there also. Mum discovered that she loved Aldi's stolen loaf cake over christmas also!Wins for 2022: Hydratem8 Water bottle, diary, flowers, Good food show tickets, childrens books x3,
Thanks to all who post the comps & please let the comping fairy sprinkle dust on my entries!0 -

I love the mini frikadellen meatballs and enough in the pack for two meals for two people. Ham and salami also really nice. All of their biscuits/chocolate/crisps have been fine. Some of the cereal bars are lush (Harvest Morn Fruit & Fibre is my favourite), but others are rancid! Korma sauce is the best I've ever tasted, but they don't always seem to have it, so I stock up with a couple of jars when I see it. Tinned soup and ravioli are also good for the price.
The only disadvantage for me is that the fruit/veg doesn't seem to last very long, so I will only buy it if I'm planning to use it within the next two days. Some of the cleaning products seem to be overpriced (compared to Wilkinson or Morrison value ranges.) I don't use Aldi for my main shopping, but as it's on the way back from town, I nip in every fortnight or so to stock up on my favourites and look for new bargains.

Milk is cheaper at both £1.09 for 4 pints. Aldi version of Coco Pops are preferred by my kids to brand ones.0

I find the benefit cereal as good as special k but about half the price. pretty much all biscuits as good if not better than anywhere else. Personally i find the fruit and veg lasts a while as its generally fresh everyday. 4 pack greek yogurt and honey only £1.29, delicious. chips and wedges seem a bargain. scampi is also really nice and good value. most of the aldi specially selected range is as good if not better than supermarkets top brands and better value.0
