menu plan for this week (in no particular order)
jacket potato and beans
homemade sweet potato and butternut squash soup
tuna mayo roll
chicken curry and rice
left over risotto (or a roll if we scoff all the risotto )
have bought lots of fruit and plan on using up the hot cross buns in the freezer in place of the cereal bars that i normally buy.
packed breakfast will be porridge again. if the weather stays warm i might try normal cereal next week, but i have enough porridge satchets to last me over 3 weeks so it's no trauma if the weather changes.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Last week to go! Aiming for 5/5 this week (only managed 3/5 last week...).
I made a lovely pearl barley & spinach risotto last week. Cheap n' healthy. Still got some of that left over so I plan to take some of that and some homemade butternut squash soup with pittas.
Good luck everyone! Looking forward to starting February's challenge!
(BTW, I have saved around £130 this month. I know last month was December/Christmas etc but I'm sure at least half of this is because I've not been shopping on my lunchbreaks. Thanks Nottoobadyet for the motivation!)0 -
I've just made a batch of pea and ham soup which should last me up until Thursday. Tomorrow, I'm planning on making some BNS soup which I'll freeze until needed. Has the Feb thread been set up yet as I'd love to continue with this challenge? xBack for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Hey MrGreen, I'll actually be abroad the first few days of feb but maybe I'll start the thread before I leave then just update everyone on my return? Alternatively, if you'd like to run it next time around please do!
Total success last week, Im really getting into the hang of this! I even turned down lunch out with people which I wouldnt have done before, so quite proud of myself.

Course you can, no probs. I roughly followed this recipe: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/food_and_drink/recipes/article586806.ece
Tasted much better the following day when I added a bit more wine and stock. Easy to freeze as well. Perfect.:T0 -

yes, i thought that too! and pearl barley is cheap - in asda don't go for their own make go for the branded one (alongside the soup/broth mix). ours is in the ethic aisle (scottish section;))0 -
Another packed lunch today - was delicious. And am definitely at my target for the moment. I have 5 working days left this month, so I need to have a packed lunch on 3 of them to stick at over 60%.0
