I realised recently that my biggest 'lunch lust' was for Boots cheese baguettes. I realised that I loved the fact that they had raw onion in them, despite not liking it generally! So I have made my own version and I still call it a 'meal deal' I bring in my crisps and a chocolate bar from home.

Why not think about your biggest 'lunch lust' and see if you can recreate it at home if possible?
My favourite bought lunch is Homous, grated carrot and Jalapeno peppers in a sunflower seed bap or in a baguette, I've often replicated it in a sandwich it's really nice. I don't make it that much as it only costs me 65p each, it's from one of those places that goes round selling sandwiches in offices and we get to buy the ones that they don't sell at a reduced price and it's just round the corner from my work, I end up spending up to £2 a day there, a cake, samosa or drink it all ads up.

Another NSD day for me today, 5/9 now.
I think having a variety of things for lunch and not just sandwiches is they key. We're nearly half way there.

Breakfast: 1 x individual pack of cornflakes. They're all gone now, so I'll have to think of something else to take tomorrow (or have toast).

tesco have a box of golden syrup flavoured ready break on offer at about 74p. i think each box has 10 sachets. you just add milk and nuke it in the micro for 2-3 minutes.

  • I'm still on 3 out of 4 this week. I've stopped taking money to work, and after pleading poverty when breakfast orders were taken I still somehow ended up with 2 slices of toast and a can of Dr Pepper *shrugs* Yeah I don't know how it happened either, but nowt came from my pocket so I'm counting it as a no-spend-on-lunch day still.

Oh and my pitta bread with cheese salad was lovely and so were the cherry tomatoes. I have a premade jacket potato in the freezer so I reckon that's my lunch for tomorrow =)

    Only just discovered this thread.

I use to eat lots of take away or shop sandwiches at work. I work at a cinema surrounded by - Burger King, KFC, McDonalds, Nandos, Pizza Hut, a Chinese and also a Shell Garage. So the temptation is huge!

I'm currently on a diet, which is what is causing me to NOT buy food from those high fat places. So it's also had an effect on my spending too :D I think I've bought one meal since I started the diet and one drink on another day. So I'm doing well so far. I've spent about £4 max, when usually I would have spent £15-£20 by now!
  • left over spag bol and two slices of bread today, making total spend for lunch this week £2.23!

easy one next week. only in work three days, then on a training course with a free lunch then off on Friday. Let's see if i can beat £2.23!

Well done everyone, let's keep it up!
