Hi, Well bank holiday Monday and of course - it's freezing!!
We were supposed to be camping this weekend but decided not to bother in this weather. Thought I'd look at this positively as got to be cheaper to stay at home!!
DD1 has been typical teenager (although not officially a teenager until the Sept) and has been so moody today! So to cheer myself up, I bought new shoes!;) On the bright side, they were reduced!! and I had brought back some cheap shoes that I bought a couple of weeks ago, on the basis that it is better to have one good pair of shoes that cost a little extra than to buy several cheap pairs that only last 2 mins!!;)
I also listed what felt like a hundred things on ebay, although in reality, think it's only about 25 things!!
This month is going to be really tight for us so trying to drum this into dh!! Went shopping with him today for a new handle for the girls room (so much for a lie-in (very rare for us, but my sister had demon baby overnight) - the spring on their bedroom door went this morning, so woken up first thing by them banging on the door to get out. Dh refused to leave them in there, despite my pleas.:rotfl: ) Anyway, that was all we set out to buy, yet came home with FOUR bags, admittedly, I bought the shoes, but he just buys carp!! I had actually managed to persuaded him to put loads back, everything else he NEEDED!!!;) He also tried to get his cc back, but have to admit that it has been so much easier to control finances now he only has the debit card!:T
Hope you all enjoy the rest of the bank holiday!Proud to be dealing with my debts, light bulb moment: 2/1/2010, reviewed 7/1/20120 -

Evening.
I realised today how far I have come!:j Last night my iron broke AGAIN. I was really cross as only half way through the uniforms;), but more importantly, I knew we hadn't had the iron that long. Six months ago, I would have just sent dh down to Argos for a new one, BUT the new mse me went through bank and cc statements to find proof of purchase - receipt was long gone!!;) Then remembered buying it with nectar points as I purchased it after i had lbm!!:) Got dh to check nectar statement and with that Argos were happy to replace the iron that was less than 3 months old!! Found it strangely satisfying to have remembered and used my consumer rights!!:j
However, still do not have nursery place for demon baby, so am enlisting health visitors help tomorrow as don't have the energy to fight anymore.:(Proud to be dealing with my debts, light bulb moment: 2/1/2010, reviewed 7/1/20120 -
Morning all,
Have been very decadent and bought a car this morning BUT it was because my car is petrol and is just drinking petrol!:( The car we've bought is really old but is diesel and I've been assured that I'll get virtually twice the milage out of it!! Also I'm confidant that I can sell my car for the amount I've paid for the newer one and if I'm lucky may even get a few pound more!!:) Plus the kids like the new one - although think that may have more to do with the variety of gadgets it comes with.
Good news - yesterday, got a statement from a cc I'd forgotten we had as paid off the balance end of last year, discovered that we were actually £15 in CREDIT:j. Anyway rang them up and asked about balance transfer and they said we could have 0% for 9 months.:j:j:jSo paid for car this morning on my old car, then will do transfer on Monday, then when I sell my old car, I can throw that at a cc with higher interest!
Went to see Dr yesterday and have been prescribed a multitude of medication, script will cost £21 ish!!:( BUT am now on thyroxin and someone has told me that I can get a form from GP for an exemption certificate for all medication because diagnosed with thyroid condition, so going to investigate this.
Still no news on nursery front, asked dh to take over as I'm so stressed about it and so far he has done NOTHING - but no surprise there!;)
Have a good weekend xProud to be dealing with my debts, light bulb moment: 2/1/2010, reviewed 7/1/20120 -
Morning, Got day off work today to take demon baby for a hearing test so sitting enjoying a lazy morning.
Nothing new on the money saving front but trying to persuad myself that not driving to work today will save petrol money!!:) Got to go into town for the test, but will catch the bus to save on ridiculous parking fees!!
Dd3 has her first holy communion coming up at end of June. Luckily I have been able to borrow a gorgeous dress but still need to buy a veil and a tiara. Ebay have some bargains. Also need to get her some shoes!!:( Then have to pay for a bit of a party after. Trying to keep it small but these things tend to get out of hand and you forget the real reason for the day! If the weather is good, we'll have a bbq, but if it rains, we'll just panic or asked people to bring a packed lunch!! :rotfl:
Same daughter is also doing Irish dancing and needs new shoes - more money!! Why is everything so expensive? Still one day the kids will leave home and I'll have money againProud to be dealing with my debts, light bulb moment: 2/1/2010, reviewed 7/1/20120 -

But at least then, you only have to battle with your dh about saving money. My kids favourite words are 'I want...'Proud to be dealing with my debts, light bulb moment: 2/1/2010, reviewed 7/1/20120

Is not being a committed money saving expert a grounds for divorce?
I have now had ENOUGH of my dh attitude to spending money. Today I threatened to have my wages paid into separate bank account, divide the debt in half and when I am debt free in approx 4 years, he can do whatever he wants with HIS money and HIS debts. Who am I kidding? The remaining debt will just transfer to me then and while I continue to be frugal, he will spend, spend, spend!!!!
I have had enough of being the only one to go without but can not get him on board - any ideas before I give up and kill him?Proud to be dealing with my debts, light bulb moment: 2/1/2010, reviewed 7/1/20120 -
