Not jealous at all, people are buying them who did not even need them and that had nowhere to put them. And then to sue because you did not get it? I am just sick and tired of people on here going on about suing people for something they did not get because of human or computer error. It is just getting more than embarrasing beyond belief. We are turning into a nation of vultures.

It is just embarrasing. I used to love MSE for what is USED to be, it was for finding glitches and sale items and being the first to get in and get them, or to find clearance items that no-one else wanted but you might. It used ot be a community. These days it is full of angry 'smileys' and people 'furious' because they did not get their sofas or (more recently) sweets, because of a website mix up and everyone wants to sue someone. People buy things they do not even want knowing it is a website mistake with intention of suing because you missed out on a 'bargain' or because a retailer made a mistake??

So someone went into work that day and made a mistake that is all. It is life, sometimes it happens. Everyone has been into work and made a mistake - I know I have.

The thing is that it could also mean that someone or people might lose their job/s over it if a company is forced to pay out £1000's in compensation because of a silly and obvious mistake. If that makes ANYONE feel good about themselves then good for you, it is certainly nothing to feel jealous about I can assure you - ashamed, yes, jealous no.

And to think it is OK because it is 'a big company'? Did anyone know that even John Lewis has made people redundant recently? JL has always been a big employer in this town but not any more. Everyone is in watching the pennies, never assume that something makes no difference. It is all about values at the end of the day. I like to feel I still have some. And that is why it makes me embarrassed to feel that you are so desperate for something, something that is deemed a luxury, to sue someone over.

As I say, MSE USED to be a great place to be, these days it is just full of people looking for someone to sue for not getting 'a bargain' or something they did not actually need but had the money to 'buy'. I am sure Martin Lewis must be very proud.

    Good post.

And this blame/claim/compensation culture has far-reaching consequences.

For example, a reason why many will not help people in the street anymore (even off-duty health professionals) is the fear of making a mistake/not quite doing it 100% right - and therefore laying oneself open to being sued.

This thread was all for fun.....everyone ordering knew it was a mistake and it was a laugh waiting to see what would turn up for those who ordered...I didn't order but am intrigued by all the errors on the M&S website so keep coming back to see this thread.

When and why did it turn into such a nightmare?

I find it really disapointing, I love Grabbit but every thread seems to turn into a battleground, please can we keep it as a bit of fun? We are all here for the same purpose - to find a bargain or two so why are we turning on each other?

  • I've just emailed m&s regarding the footstool and have had this email back.

Thank you for your email regarding product code T271688.

I have checked this for you and this product code brings up a footstool, however, at present it is out of stock and we do not have a date for when it will be back in stock.

It said it was made of glass!! If you're buying a sofa you'd look at the description, right? Sorry to nosey in but you wouldn't even get a sofa on Ebay for that price.
MY mum got a 3 piece suite on ebay for 99p and it was lovely.lol

Interesting thread, and i'm glad the peeps that ordered have taken the whole thing in their stride and had a laugh about it. I'm not sure what the reasoning for a lot of the later posts are, as it seems to me those mentioning legal action and taking the matter further with M&S haven't even ordered sofas in the first place.
