Just google MP3 downloads but be careful of the ones that look 2 good to be true - they are and are illegal. Careful with iTunes as they use an Apple format for their downloads rather than the more universal mp3 format. At least they used to, not a big apple fan so don't follow what they are currently doing
.
As bat999 says - try ripping some of you own CDs first ready for when you have the player.
Another thing to think about is what software are you going to use to sync your music on to the device. I am sure it will come with Sony's own but there was some concern about their music player software a year or two back - don't know if it is still valid.
I use a generic player (media monkey http://www.mediamonkey.com/) and find this to be fine as it syncs with most MP3 players.0 -

once i buy music do i have to transfer it to like a folder then trabsfer it again to the deviceI use a generic player (media monkey http://www.mediamonkey.com/) and find this to be fine as it syncs with most MP3 players.
so i buy the music transfer it to the link above then transfer it to the device? ]
That mediamonkey is a program that you download and install on your computer.
When it's installed you use it to store your music files in.
It's probably more than you need now, maybe later.
It all depends which type of mp3 player you get.
If it's a cheap and cheerful one then you probably only need to create a folder for your music. Then when you download tracks you can drag/drop or cut/paste to put them in there.
Then when you connect your mp3 player you copy them onto it and keep the originals in your folder.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
right ok thanks very much for your help so the 1st thing i'm going to do is buy an mp3 does it matter whether i buy the one from halfords as suggested in a post at the top or should i buy a scandisk? (not sure what the difference is)0

I can't really advise you here.
Mine's a second generation iPod Shuffle.
The difference between the Sonys from Halfords and the Sandisk?
Well, the Sandisks have screens with menus. They're better but they are a lot more expensive.
Read some of the reviews on the Halfords website for Sony in the two links posted earlier.
Also look at the prices of the Sandisks here:-
Here
Maybe someone else will give you an opinion about those Halfords Sonys.

MP3 is a digital sound format while MP4 is for both sound and video.
Halfords is selling off some Sony music players, but stock is very limited now.
1GB Walkman for £7
2GB Walkman for £10
Click 'Check Stock In My Local Store'. If the five nearest to you are all out of stock, click 'Find A Store With Availabliliy'.
they didn't have any of those in stock so i got this one
